South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

There is a moment of quiet consideration that passes from Hunter to Were as Anastasia lays her deceptively-delicate hands to the velveteen nose of the youthful mare. It is a gesture that had undoubtedly been executed a hundred times or more upon the noses of horses from different decades, different intersections within the life of the once-royal. The importance of this time, this interaction, however is not lost upon the Russian woman as she continues to lay her touches to the newly made shifter. There existed not even the barest shard of doubt within Anastasia's mind that this Were girl was but the only individual present who would soon, as Alexander would say, be "put through her paces". She had existed beneath the influence of his masterful tutelage for so lengthy a span of time that she recognizes when she is to be tested, when she is to be tried, and when she is to be taught.

It is for this reason that Anastasia requires merely the slightest of nods to mount the ebony equine, lifting her slender frame upon the back of the mare with relative ease. The mare's sudden agitation at her added weight is promptly apparent to the Duchess, the scrape of an equine tail against the polished leather of her riding boots lending a voice, of sorts, to Calliel's unrest. But Anastasia does not falter, nor does she shift uneasily atop her mount, simply leaning forward the slightest bit to place a reassuring hand against the mare's neck in a practiced effort to soothe her whilst Alexander offered his correction.

The Duchess is patient, gentle as she receives the reins from her creator, allowing the leather straps to rest easily against Calliel's taut flesh, legs tightening in the slightest fashion as she tugs the reins to one side to direct her. It is a leisurely pace the duo of females takes about the fenced ring, a slow and steady trot all that Anastasia requests of her mount until... a peculiar notion tickles at the forefront of her mind, companion to a memory of a time long since passed. Before Alexander had heralded her salvation, before the decimation of her beloved family, in a time far simpler, far more naive than this one. A time when she had existed solely as the most tirelessly reckless amongst her siblings, not least when they played within the royal stables. A smile, insidiously cunning, teases at the brims of her upturned lips as she shifts just slightly as not to draw the attention of her creator for she knows he watches them studiously. "He has been having you run in circles, Calliel," she whispers evenly. "But I have something far more invigorating in mind. Do you see that pasture beyond the fence... how wonderful it would feel beneath your hooves. You could truly stretch your legs out there, you could know what it is to fly."

This is all she offers for a time, forfeiting a share of moments for the young equine to respond as she may have deemed suitable. It is only then that she continues in that same covert, hushed tone. "This fence shall be no problem for you. Do not fear, you are tall and strong. Whenever you are ready...," Anastasia urges as her fingers tighten against the leather of the reins.
