East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

It had, perhaps, occurred to the Dark Hunter that the attractive young woman in front of him certainly didn't belong with him - at least not in any way that their respective societies might deem acceptable. Her life was but fleeting in comparison to the centuries he had lived out before her and would surely continue to do afterwards and yet, Alexander was willing to yet again endure that despondency that came with the knowledge that, one day, she would eventually die. It was a resounding fact that Alexander knew well, somewhere within the back of his mind. This was but a miniscule hurdle in all that surely he might encounter upon taking a lover such as her and yet, the Macedonian King, quite typically so, hardly shied from the challenge. After all, the man was a conqueror through and through, rising up to meet any difficulty with a certain air of surety within his own victory. He hardly needed anyone to fight at his side, to face life with the same headstrong demeanor that he so effortlessly managed. Such a woman would surely only lead to further confrontations for a man that was entirely used to being obeyed regardless of how futile or absurd his notions were. No, in this, Alexis was utterly perfect. She offset him so seamlessly that to give her up for what was but a moment in his life seemed utterly ludicrous.

Alexander was, perhaps, observant to a fault, the man entirely aware of the way her entire figure seemed to relax at the absence of his touch. Did he really have that great of an effect upon her? Did that simple brush of flesh truly bother her that much? Hell, the better question was perhaps what thoughts she so struggled to keep hidden from him. Oh yes, he was aware of it, like a mantra running through her head to simply not think of it, whatever it so happened to be. He was, of course, curious by nature and yet, Alexander knew better than to pry. Were she some foreign monarch or some enemy of whatever side had momentarily gained his allegiance, there was no doubt that the man would see fit to pry. He had hardly been given the opportunity thus far to further fine-tune his capability and yet, the King was perhaps just as much aware that if he crossed such boundary, there would be no coming out the other side. Trust with his kind was, after all, a rather fragile topic. If this, whatever this was, was a topic she wanted to keep to herself, it was a privacy he would not invade on.

Instead, his eyebrows furrowed as he offered her what little words he could to perhaps sway the young woman's thoughts, to convince her that he was hardly done with her. She had not been replaced in his life by something grander or greater. Alexander was entirely picky of the women he entertained. He could see well the surprise upon her features at the sheer notion of such desires he had for her, the astonishment entirely compounded only by the admittance of his age and perhaps the first hint he might have given to his the identity he was so well known for. In truth, Alexander had nearly forgotten his own birthday, as silly as that might have seemed for his mortal counterparts. It was a date that had not been celebrated in nearly a millennium and so, it too had passed from his memory until the the mention of his infinitely long life. He was hardly aware of the way the woman seemed to struggle with his words, after all, Alexander had hardly meant for his efforts to somehow insult the woman. Quite the opposite and yet, his attempts to so explain himself momentarily seemed to fall flat. At least, at first.

He hardly anticipated the way that tears seem so glisten across her eyes, his words certainly surprising the man much in the same fashion and yet, despite the clear heartache she so felt, Alexander could hardly help the small, endearing simper that so crossed his features. "Alexis, Alexis, shhh." He uttered softly towards her, taking a step towards her as he reached up to brush the tears from her cheeks. The man's thumb paused just inches from her flesh, suddenly remembering that it was his affinity that so perturbed her. The Dark Hunter's head shook ever so slightly, a soft chuckle emitting in the air between them before he made every effort to soothe her. "Alexis, whatever it is you've done...it is nothing
my little Ï"εÏ"ράποδο. I have murdered thousands, I've ransacked cities, destroyed entire tribes and that was all before I was turned. You are not a monster, the simple fact that it tears you up so proves that." Perhaps, in this, the young were-fox had things entirely turned around. In comparison, he supposed that some might foolishly deem him a monster though really, the title of the world's greatest general didn't come without it's fair share of carnage.
