East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

"We built this city, we built this city on rock and roll."

His voice so broke off into a series of hums, his hand taping against the slates of the roof he reclined upon, lips voicelessly mouthing the rest of those words as he turned the iPod up a little more to block out the sound of that late night traffic that seemed incessant in its continued rumbling. God he liked this song. The vampire entirely pleased to have found it amongst a collection of otherwise tasteless music on the wholly stolen ipod now nestled within his ears. It was a shame, really, that he was going to have to sell it for, well, rent money and yet still, he could enjoy it for one night right? It wasn't like there was anything else to do while he waited for his meal to finally finish up and close for the night. It was a Wednesday for Christ sake! How long was this bar going to stay upon for? Red on The Water had turned into a truly profitable hunting ground for the vulture of a vampire. Vampires flocked to it frequently, the man so often choosing a target from the clientele, watching them for several days and learning their habits before finally setting his trap and earning himself that meal once he knew just which street they would take on their way home and the easiest way to block them off. It was a shame that red-headed woman had become wise to his game, at least, Arlo was mostly sure she had been, mostly, it was hard to tell and yet she had, in the least, started to notice his continued presence in that bar night after night. A regular client was perhaps something to overlook and yet one that never actually ordered more than a single drink before spending the evening moving about the room was perhaps a little less inconspicuous. At least, to someone who paid attention.

As such, Arlo had moved to outside the bar. The man nothing if not opportunistic. His sense of self-preservation having readily seen him abandon the indoors for a while. After all, those rumours of his existence had already started to fly about. His species was...rare and for perhaps good reason. Other vampires so rarely tended to tolerate the feeding habits of a....whatever he was. Forcing him to move on else find himself torn apart by the local coven whose territory he was surely encroaching upon in some fashion. Hypocritical bastards. The lot of them. Happy to feed on others but not happy to be fed on in turn. Save for maybe Sebastian. The only willing victim he'd ever met. He'd liked that fellow. Even Malek had been pleasant though not exactly willing. He dismissed those thoughts easily, bright blue eyes glancing down to the back door of the bar. He'd been watching them for nearly two full nights now. During the week they closed earlier and about half an hour after closing that back door would open. After that the vampiric busboy would wander out with the trash to toss it into the can in the alleyway. That fellow having become Arlo's target tonight.

His fingers continued to tap idly at the roof shingling as he lay back, features obscured by that denim hood he'd so received as his one and only Christmas gift last year. The man rather enjoying the manner in which he could almost pretend it felt warm, as if he could feel it, as if he was alive again. He sighed gently into the darkness, a soft, distant seeming noise at last drawing his attention downward again- that back door at last opening. Finally! The Ipod was removed quietly and returned to the pocket of his black jeans, Arlo rolling onto his stomach before pushing up on his knees- remaining crouched all the same as he simply watched the other vampire shuffle out the door with trash bag in hand. He was hungry. He could just about smell him from here. Saliva filling his mouth at even the thought as his muscles tensed in preparation. His victim wandering closer and closer to the very trash can Arlo knew he would choose (vampires are slaves to habit), the man lingering just above it. Waiting. Waiting. There. He descended in much the same manner a leopard might leap from a tree, veritably dropping down onto the other man- the element of surprise so affording him the upper hand as his teeth sunk into the upper arm of that employee. His venom, so perfectly designed to sedate other vampires, readily saw his struggles become all the weaker and more failingly until he was barely conscious and so muttering all manner of illogical things as his body relaxed entirely within Arlo's arms.

"See? Wasn't even that hard. You just take it easy, bud."

It was simply a matter of easing that sedated vampire into a seated position now, Arlo lifting his victims left arm upward, his fingers searching for that vein within his wrist before pushing back the hood off his jacket and raising that arm to his lips to bite down again- this time with the full intention to feed rather than merely bite- that glorious blood exploding within his mouth, his victim moaning softly as his body was assaulted with that sensation of utter relaxation all over again. Arlo entirely content to near drain him dry before at last leaning away with that stolen meal so coursing throughout his own system. His victim was entirely unconscious now and yet no worse for wear.....exactly. Arlo drawing that hood back into place to obscure his features before reaching into his victims pocket to pluck that pay check from within. Payday!

"Damn bud, you make a lot to just be taking out trash."

He muttered, more to himself than any other, his tongue sweeping across his lips and fangs to catch ever last drop before returning his attention to that envelope- quite a few bills nestled inside- clearly this fellows tips for the night. Arlo frowning slightly as he simply began to finger through them, counting softly beneath his breath as he leaned back against the wall and beside his fallen victim, the man having stuttered to mutter incoherently again as Arlo simply folded one long leg over the other. He was totally going to be on time with rent this month! It was an entirely soft sound that saw the man glance upward from that envelope, bright blue gaze glancing briefly about that alleyway. His frame tensing and yet....when nothing else followed it the young man simply moved to dismiss it, shoulders shurgging, returning to counting his newfound cash.
