East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

I would be lying if I said I wasn't physically attracted to Isolt. Everything about her screams tiger in the sack, to be frank. First there's the rumors about red heads being fire crackers and if that's not enough, I see the look in her eyes sometimes. There's something there, something darker, something more dangerous than what she shows on the outside. She hides it well but there's a daredevil inside of her and I'll be damned if I die before I get to see it unleashed. Of course, I'm not always all about the physical. I wouldn't even be getting to know her if that was the case. Isolt brings out another side of me, a more protective side, a softer side. She's the girl I would talk about carefully if I had guy friends cause they'd be making smooching sounds and teasing me about being in love. It's not love. She just means something to me. She's important.

I know that she comes to me for understanding. I don't know how many other vampires she knows that I count myself lucky that she keeps coming to me. It's not like I don't enjoy her company, after all. She gives me a refreshing feeling. Something I could have done half a dozen times in the past somehow feels brand new when she's around. I know that she's on the desperate side and maybe that dampens the feeling of importance just a little bit but in the moments that I see and talk to her, I could give two shits why she comes to me, only that she does.

I had been a bit doubtful about the whole caressing her chin thing, thinking maybe that was a bit too forward but it somehow felt natural. I can admit to a bit of surprise that she doesn't flinch back or push my hand away. I had almost regretted the gesture until she almost seemed to breathe a sigh of relief at my touch. Of course, such sighs do things to a healthy man such as myself but then she doesn't have to know that. As I pull back, I swear I see disappointment in her gaze but I tell myself different just so I don't get a big head about it. Every time she meets my eyes, I want to turn the whole world upside down for her. I also want to tear the world apart in the same instant and gather up the blood of millions all for her benefit. She may not see the magic in all that but to a vampire who's been around for a while, I would think the gesture would be pretty damn romantic.

She grins as I tell her I have a surprise, her brow furrowing in curiosity but I don't plan on giving it away so easily. She reaches out her hand though I note how slowly she does it. Her fingers entwine with mine and I swear they fit perfectly but who am I to judge? She comes with me willingly enough and I make sure to give warning looks on the way out in case any of the guys get the wrong idea. If one so much as dares to reach out a hand for her ass, they'll be wearing their entrails as a scarf. I don't play nice when it comes to her. She is silent all the way to the door but once we're outside in the moonlight, she finds her voice. At her question, I grin eagerly.

"Now it wouldn't be a secret if I tell, would it?"

My eyes gleam with excitement as I lead her through the downtown area. The sidewalks are mostly clear of other people which suits me rather well. As we go on, the sounds of music and general ruckus start to rise in tempo. To creatures with such sensitive ears as we have, she should be able to hear it no problem. By the time we turn the corner of the college district, I can already see the destination. A fraternity house, Beta Cappa something with the letters all lit up and kegs already set up in the front yard. The place is packed with intoxicated guys, most of them shirtless, and a few girls running around in skimpy clothes and bikini tops. My kind of party, in other words. There are keg stands going on and beer pong and who knows what else on the inside? I bet there's more than a little bit of pot and cocaine going the rounds inside. Of course, that's not what we came here for.

As we stop in front of the house, I let go of Isolt's hand, a little reluctantly, and wave my arm out.

"Well? Surprise."
