East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Oliver Burton

The petite woman seemed frozen in place as though her feet were fused into the cement. He can't help but notice how wide-eyed like a doe in headlights she was in that very moment. As though she wore that fear like a perfume and it drove the predator within him wild, pacing like a pent up animal. This was not good, no, not for a human that seemed way too much like food. He peers at her, those dark eyes watching her in that predatory way, as though he could swallow her whole. She was so small, so skittish and he was hardly subtle, his whole aura was commanding, hungry and altogether ominous.

He partly expects her to flee, to take off running at the first sight of danger. In fact, it seemed she could have fled at the very sound of his voice. However, brave, fearful girl that she was, stood her ground admitting to where she was from despite those timid lyrics. Hawthorn Village, hm. He knew that part of Sacrosanct, it was a nice part of town. Not like this place, no this was the kind of place where bad things could happen to good people. This was the kind of place people like her shouldn't be. Unless she was the perfectly dangling bait to lure someone's defenses utterly useless, only to strike.

Her eyes shifted to the floor in that shy way as though she fiddles with the strap of her bag succumbing to those nerves. "You are a long way from home.." There was an ominous tone to his masculine voice, as though he were the wolf in the woods, waiting with a hungry mouth to snatch his prey. He hardly planned on hunting this little human should her intentions be harmless. Or so he thought, but his beast was acting in such a peculiar way he is unsure what it wanted. She was so far away from where she had to go he almost pitied her, or so any many with a pulse would feel. He drew in a breath of that humid night air which just so happened to contain her scent, what a sweet smell despite being saturated with that acidic fear. Perhaps he should have just helped her and be finished with it.

Her cheeks are now a bright blushing hue that kissed her entire face. She was entirely uncomfortable with his presence, humans could hardly hide their emotions well, especially around him when he could just as easily smell it off of this. But this woman, she was a whole new level. He could practically read her thoughts right across her face, run. He was certain he could smell deceit on her if she was merely a ploy and yet he wasn't one to simply trust on first appearances nor was he one to simply go out of his way for someone he barely knew. Oliver surrounded himself with very few things in his fortress of solitude, it was a lonely, echoey, hollow place, but it was his place and it was safe. His dark shadowy gaze caught sight of that suspicious man once more, he seemed jumpy and hardly subtle in the way he kept eyeballing the young woman from his rather deplorable hiding spot.

She was being followed.

She had the right to know that at the very least. Her eyes widen even more than they had before as fear, absolute fear took over. It wasn't anything like the fear he had tasted earlier, it was potent. This was panicky and unpredictable. She turned from him, rummaging into that bag of hers. What was she looking for? What a peculiar girl. He may have leaned in a little to the right to catch a glimpse, but saw nothing. It was as though she were looking for answers within that precious bag of hers. Her gaze darts as though looking desperately for an escape. She was going to have a full blown panic attack in the middle of the sidewalk. She backed up so quickly it surprised even him, especially when she crashed right into the solid Englishman. He didn't waver. She looked utterly dazed. Helpless, so helpless. His mind echoed. He had to help her somehow. Directions, he would tell her where to go. "Just walk to the main street a block away.. You will be fine." He was entirely unaware of just how useless those words truly were. His skepticism kept him from helping her more. He sighed as he looked at those wide defenseless eyes. " You will need to take the bus until it ends.. then take a transfer but it will be at a terminal with lots of people. Just take the first bus you see at the main road ahead." His English accent almost seemed soft then as he signaled with an idle hand. "You might even..." Snag a taxi but his.. his words were severed off by a sudden utterance that she had to go. Just like that, she moved so fast as she hurried off into the opposite direction.

He huffed out another sigh, frowning, shaking his head. Well, he wasn't going to chase after her if she wasn't going to listen to reason. He was even willing to reluctantly walk her down the road so she was in a public place. This was exactly why he didn't meddle in others affairs. She was only going to get herself even more lost within the tangled labyrinth of the city.

She looked like a ripe low hanging fruit with all that fear radiating wildly from her.

He wanted to go home, he wasn't going to chase around a human woman who refused to listen to reason. He noticed the man in the distance was gone, his scent no longer to be traced on that idle breeze. With a shrug, he almost missed his light too, at this point he had probably already missed several. He swiftly crossed the street during the last few seconds of it turning yellow, he paused, hesitating within that road as if he was unable to fully cross that street. He had a tug, a nagging sensation that sent his thoughts back to the lost little lamb. He shoved them back down forcefully, she wasn't his concern. He was going to go home.

But why did his feet betray him? He just wanted to rest his weary limbs, turn off his brain and settle the roaring bear that threatened to push free. He groaned in frustration. A honk of an irritated driver made him nearly jump out of his skin. Blasted cars. He glared in their direction before crossing back to the way he had come, following down that same path that foolish woman took. He had no idea why he bothered, but he decided he would check.

She was probably fine.

One of the lights even wavered and flickered as if threatening to go out entirely. He peered down that uneven sidewalk, to find her on the ground. An ominous figure standing over her, hunched and vicious. A rumble vibrates through his chest, a growl of anger. Goddamnit girl. Oliver moves swiftly, crossing the short distance, she hardly even made it to the first intersection. He was taller than the vampire that looked like a sadistic cat with a mouse in his claws. He was toying with her like cats do, torturing her until he took what he wanted, it undoubtedly killed the poor thing in the process of that sick amusement.

He moved swiftly, inaudible as he used his affinity to cloak the sound of his footsteps and any sound he gave off. In one fluid movement, his hand reached out with inhuman speed, to grab the man by the back of the neck. His grip was relentless and violent, digging into his skin with his fingertips. Clearly, the woman was innocent all along. Perhaps he should have just given her his damn phone in the first place. A growl rips through him, anger emanating through his very pores. His body trembled as though the bear within him wanted nothing more than to claw its way out. "Time to go.." He snarled, his eyes no longer were his own as they bled into that of an animal. He held him up and off the ground as if he was nothing more than a nuisance.

"I told you to go the other way.." He glimpsed at her, his accented voice chiding. Was she hurt? That was when the scent of blood crept up to his nostrils and his grip began to slip..
