East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Alexander was smiling a lot so she wanted to take that as a good sign. Plus this was good. They were actually talking, something they didn't do too often. She knew just how little she knew about him and vice versa. She wanted to change that, make this into something more. She just didn't know how. Her experience with men was little to none and Alexander was by far the biggest step she'd ever taken with the opposite sex. A lot of the cards were in his hand on this one cause she honestly had no idea what she was doing most of the time. She felt like she was just along for the ride. She didn't mind the idea that he was watching over her. If anything, it made her feel almost giddy, thinking about him being with her even when she wasn't able to touch him. That must mean he thought of her, right? Some might call it stalking but in the supernatural world, didn't the rules change a little? She liked to think so.

He said he didn't want her to end up on a hunter's list and she couldn't help the way her lips curled into a coy smile as she leaned toward him and lowered her voice to a husky whisper. "Wouldn't I have to be a bad girl to do that?" Her brow lifted teasingly before she leaned back again. She indulged him, telling him about Raven and Tetradore and the people she liked to call family now. Maybe they weren't all as close as soem but she hoped in time, that would change. There was so many different personalities on that Ark now. She didn't know how to keep up with them all. He said that he was glad she found a place to belong and he seemed to genuinely mean it. She smiled, her eyes getting brighter at the idea that he seemed to approve. "Me, too." She agreed with a nod. Unfortunately, the conversation had to take a different turn then. It felt only right that since he asked about her that she got to do the same so she chose a subject she was curious about: his relationship with Anastasia.

She tried so hard to remain neutral but she must have been too obvious about it. He sighed and said that he knew they didn't get along. She lifted a brow. "Oh? Did Anastasia tell you that?" She couldn't help it. Maybe she was being a little petty, so she took a breath before meeting his gaze again. She was sure he knew how his own daughter spoke to other people but Anastasia was an extension of him so Alexis felt she needed to know her just as much as she needed to know him. If she were to avoid Anastasia completely, wouldn't that be avoiding a whole part of Alexander himself? She wouldn't do that to him. Anastasia was important to him. He almost seemed to be pouting as he said that they lived separate lives. He looked sad about it, which tugged at Alexis' heart strings. She found herself reaching across the table to squeeze his hand in sympathy. He said Anastasia was hunting for closure and Alexis perked up.

She understood that maybe a little too well. She had her own past that still haunted her, after all. Then he shook his head, as if dismissing the conversation but Alexis' eyes flashed with determination. Oh no, he wasn't getting off that easily. He wanted to talk so they were going to talk. She followed his gaze as the waitress came back with a large tray. The meat on it smelled delicious but she wouldn't be distracted. She gave a sweet smile and thanked the waitress as she put the food on the table but the moment she walked away, Alexis leaned forward. "Okay, look. Anastasia rubs me the wrong way, but she's protective of you and I can respect that. I just want her to see that I'm not just some gold digging woman after your power or money. The least you could do is help." She crossed her arms stubbornly and eyed him, though her own gaze twinkled teasingly. "How do I get through to her? You know her best. Any secret ways to her heart? Food? Horses? A new necklace?"
