East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

I never would have told Isolt what was in the box. I like surprises and I like seeing her reactions so much more. It's like watching a child learn shapes and colors for the first time, that look of fascination and awe on her face making it all worth it. As she reaches for the box, I wait in silence, a slow lazy grin working its way across my lips. She opens the box slowly as if it might break and my eyes twinkle with anticipation. As she looks over the charm bracelet in all her wonder, I just wait, though I'm dying to know what she's thinking, what she's feeling. Does she like it? She whispers something and my smirk widens. Maybe I do have some romanticism in me after all. Who else would I get a charm bracelet for? I can't think of anyone I've ever bought a bracelet for. With Catherine, it was more simple things like flowers and my blood. She didn't ask for much and Isolt would never ask for anything but I already love buying her stuff. All for that expression.

She slowly moves her gaze from the bracelet back up to me and I smile knowingly. As she leans over, I find that I'm holding my breath even though I don't need to. Her supple lips touch my cheek and my skin prickles in wanting. She whispers in my ear and I feel the uncontrollable urge to tun my head, just enough to make our lips brush. But all too soon, the moment is lost and she turns her gaze back to the bracelet. I watch even so as she takes the bracelet out of the box and slips it deftly onto her wrist. She has a small wrist. I can't believe I've never noticed before how dainty her wrists are. She looks at it a few minutes longer before relaxing against the passenger seat and looking at me. She smiles and it's a dazzling thing. I can't get enough of it. I smirk again, eyes twinkling.

"You're welcome."

I move the car into 1st gear then and pull away from the curb, glad that I've gotten a smile out of her for today, the first of many hopefully. I look over at her.

"So where to first? Lights? Ornaments? I'm saving the tree for last since I'm not quite sure how I'm going to put it on my car."

I cringe at the thought of the branches scratching the roof of my baby. It's a hard thought, but paint is cheap enough. I can still imagine her decorating the tree with stars in her eyes. It's a sight well worth it.
