East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

As co-owner of a new establishment in town, it would suffice to say I've been busy the past few weeks. Running a pub isn't all fun and games, unfortunately and the paper work is enough to make you want to build the world's biggest bon fire. Drink orders and food deliveries and staff requests equal the biggest head ache I think I've had since becoming undead. But the smile I see on Isolt's face when she serves her clientele makes it all worth it. I remind myself of this every night when I'm counting the tills and getting ready for a late night of liquor and playing host. It's not all fun and games, sure, but it sure beats being a nobody. Slowly I'm working my way up in town. Who knows? I might be getting close to being as popular as the famed Ark of the weres.

I've decided tonight is a night for celebration so I promptly pulled Isolt aside and offered her a blind fold. The wary look on her face fixed a soft smirk on my own lips as I asked her if she trustsed me. Of course her answer was yes so she put it on and I gently led her by the hand to the back office. Once through the door, I told her she could remove the blind fold and I flipped the lights. The room was lit with candles and even some sparklers I managed to light up with the kinetic energy flowing through my body. I've been practicing that trick for weeks. The desk has been cleaned off and in the place of the mountains of paperwork that usually decorate its surface is a cake, white frosting spelling out the words "Congrats, Manager!" on a blood red surface, no pun intended.

Two bottles of liquor and one of Type-O blood stand at the ready beside it with two glasses. I stand back to let her take it in, my lips slowly pulling into a lazy grin as I try to read her expression in the dim lighting of the candles. After giving her some time, I slowly make my way around the desk so that I face her, waving out my arms slowly.

"Well, the cake says it all. I wanted to make it official. Did you ever think you would be running your own pub?"

My eyes soften as they only do for her, letting the arrogant facade drop for just a few seconds as I stare at her a moment too long in the candlelight, my eyes glittering with an emotion I thought I could never feel again as they trace over her delicate jawline and high cheek bones, her perfect red tresses and her dazzling blue eyes.

About that time, there's a knock at the door and then he walks in, the master of fun himself, even with a shadow friend to boot. The soft expression is gone, painted over with a look of amusement as my brow rises, watching his frolicking shadow as if it's about to do a neat trick or pull a knife. At his question, I snort softly.

"I promise I do a good background check on all my staff. Believe it or not, she's twenty one. Her birthday was last week."

I smirk teasingly as I turn my head to follow his gaze, watching his shadow dance around the corners of the room until another shadow interrupts. As the girl pokes her head around the door, I lift one hand, waving it off as she tells me her concerns. She eyes Davante with something between interest and frustration and my smirk widens, turning my gaze to him now at his next question. My brows knit in a "be nice" fashion, but of course my eyes betray the scolding, glittering with mischief, something Davante always seems to bring out in me, before I turn my face back to her with a try at a more serious expression.

"It's fine, Emily. He's a friend and welcome. Thank you."

Using the charm I've used to gather many of my staff members, I tilt my head with a smirk and her eyes flutter for a second before she nods her head in dismissal and disappears. Now turning my gaze back to Davante, I shake my head.

"It's about time you showed up to see how I spend my time."

I look back to Isolt now, having never fully forgotten she was here. I don't think I ever could. I feel her essence in the room like electricity crackling at my skin. I nudge my head toward Davante.

"I don't know if you've gotten the pleasure, or it could be a curse, I'm not quite sure yet, to meet Davante. Davante, this is Isolt, co-owner and manager of this lovely establishment."

My eyes practically glow with light humor now as I pull another glass from the shelf next to the desk.

"Care for a drink, Davante? We're celebrating and I've got the most expensive Bourbon we carry. Unless you'd rather some different of course."
