East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

I should have known she would already be watching. I'm sure Isolt saw him the moment he walked through the door. I've only ever had one encounter with Asrael and Isolt was there too. So was Serafina and Bethel and a bunch of other people I don't feel like naming but he wasn't really a party person there either. Of course the council would send their most boring lap dog to scope out the new vampire owned pub. That way he can't be distracted by our charm and unearthly good manners. He's as stoic as a scarecrow and not nearly as cuddly. Where's Davante when you need him? If anyone could teach this guy what a sense of humor is, it's him.

I can sense her tension before she even ventures to stride over to us. I'm guessing already that she's not happy about the tour thing. Of course I already know what happens if you don't give them the tour. That's what they want, of course. For you to say no so they can then blame your lack of manners on why they came stomping through the place terrorizing the staff and customers and killing any who get in their path. I won't have a wreck of a pub after we just opened and I won't have a reputation for putting anyone under this roof in danger. I'd rather give him the freaking tour.

She must think I'm crazy, offering him a tour. It's no secret that Asrael and I can't stand each other. He wants to shoot me with a ball of light that he should know by now won't work on me. I'll just suck all the energy out of it and shoot it right back at him. That's all sunlight is anyway, just kinetic energy. So I'm covered but if he didn't put the pieces together back from our time at the witchery where I shot a lamp into nothing but sand, then he's just too dull in the head to bother explaining it to. I know she must be quite possessive of this place. I call it more hers than me even though she keeps swearing that it's half and half. I do have a fondness for the place but it dulls measurably in comparison to my fondness for its manager. I can understand her not wanting the filth of a hunter to walk through the rooms untouched but we have nothing to hide and I find more fault in letting him ransack the place just to piss us off than just allowing it now and getting it over with.

She appears on the other side of the bar as if by magic, her expression innocent enough but I can see that glimmer in her eyes and I can feel her growing tension. She's not happy with me. She leans in to tell Asrael that tours are only for fire marshals and health inspectors and I have to admire her tenacity. as if to make up for it, she offers him food. I raise a brow to show her I'm impressed but I turn my gaze to him, sure he'll have a good comeback. I knew he wouldn't take my hand so it's no surprise when he merely looks at my hand and snorts. I bring it back to my side smoothly, never missing a beat. He tells me his name is Asrael which I store for future reference. He must have entertaining thoughts, the way he always seems to wear a secret smile. Probably the many different ways he could end me if he tried.

He lifts his brow and offers a sarcastic compliment which I accept with a smirk.

"Isn't it?"

My eyes darken just a little before I recover my own lighter expression. I can play the part of the carefree host rather well but never forget that I'm dangerous, that I've probably killed more humans and hunters than he's seen in a lifetime. After all, I was a rather bad boy when I first got turned. Those were a rough couple of decades. He seems surprised by my offer of a tour though. I do like being unpredictable. He admits he would like to get started on the tour and I merely lift my brows and smile when he says it would make us both happier. No one says I have to agree.

He gestures with his hand as if to follow me but he scowls when Isolt steps up, obviously displeased with the interruption. My eyes narrow just a little at the following threat he lets slide off his tongue like honey but my voice only lowers to a deathly pitch, the pleasant smile still on my lips as I turn my gaze to him and tilt my head as if simply amused.

"Hm, that's a nice plan you have there. I didn't know the council was so lax to allow hunters to kill innocent humans just doing their jobs now. Maybe that should have some looking into, a few anonymous phone calls perhaps. You didn't think that all my staff were vampires and supernaturals, now, did you? I'll have you know I'm a major supporter of the high school kids wanting to get out and get some responsibility as they set out to make a life for themselves."

I glance around, smiling the whole while as I let him double check with whatever senses he might have. Ten out of the twelve servers on staff at this very moment are nothing more than human, just young girls and guys looking for a good paying job. Their parents either don't know who owns the bar or they're simply in denial of the supernatural world. As long as their kids get a steady paycheck, that's all that matters to them.

My lips twitch with humor as the hunter reaches out for the drink that was set before him, actually taking a sip as if only out of spite. I raise a brow at him, eyes twinkling with good humor. He then tells her he's not hungry and yet his stomach has a different tune to sing. I tilt my head once more, smirking as I glance at Isolt.

"How about a compromise? We'll get him a slice of our best pie and he can eat it while you lead the tour."

My eyes look to hers, trying to read her thoughts, though of course I know that will never happen. I know she doesn't want anyone endangered because of this prick and I certainly don't want to have to clean up his mess when he's finished with the place. It might only take seconds but still. At least this way she gets to pick what he does and doesn't see and she gets to set the tone.
