East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Don't fret precious, I'm here

Little angel go away, come again some other day.
The devil has my ear today.

There weren't many circumstances that might induce some kind of embarrassment in me â€" watching my brother bartending at a Burlesque certainly wasn't one of them â€" but noting the way Envy and Lust flitted about Serafina and myself made me self-conscious in a way I couldn't have before their seemingly ever present lurking. The Vices or Sins (I haven't yet decided what to call them) were only as inconvenient as certain circumstances yielded. Inconvenient was Lust's presence here, but it was undeniably fitting. Serafina seemed so inclined to offer Lust a permanent residence in our presence; I didn't mind it when we had privacy from prying eyes and I could submit myself to Lust's whims. Here, though? Sighing was all I could do from allowing Lust to overcome both of us; Envy, too. Instead of dwelling on what I deemed an unwelcome presence for the time being, I gently reminded myself that there was a head-turning stunning woman beside me, and my fingers closed briefly on her knee before sliding up to rest comfortably on her thigh but in a PG-13 location as my fingers brushed briefly on her inner thigh.

"You're a terribly bad habit, you know that?"

My lips twisted into a knowing smirk, recognizing the small fire that had begun to burn her steel eyes. As she admitted that she wanted all of my attention, Envy's ethereal features warped into what could only be a wicked, devilish grin. He seemed to believe his work was done with us when I summoned earthly magic to pull the wooden chair Serafina sat perched on closer to me so that I could lower a hand to the small of her back and scoop her into my lap. With my attention based solely on placing slow, deliberate, and gossamer brushes of my lips up her neck to ear where I briefly grazed my teeth before speaking in a voice that would surely send shivers up her spine.

"You have all of my attention, Sera."

When the presence of another individual demanded our collective attention, I shifted to allow Serafina to slip back into her chair before leaning back in my chair with languid ease, resting my arm on the back of her chair. I wanted, more than anything, to simply throw Serafina onto the table and do things that would make everyone in the establishment uncomfortable. Why couldn't this teeny little being have noted the Vices loitering about, all unamused that we were no longer playing into their whimsical desires. With a deep, long and entirely exasperated sigh â€" my smug irritation was almost immediately diluted with hot, searing desire for the witch who leaned in towards the Fairy that had joined us. The predatory fashion in which she leaned forward, almost purring, saw my fingers fit to brush against the back of her neck in an approving fashion.

" Tell me," I started to say, tilting my head curiously. "Did you hear of the Kingdom that was destroyed by a Hunter, recently?" My lips began to curl into a Cheshire grin. "Yes, Sera â€" I have dealt with their king â€" I mean kind, before."

Images of Azrael garbed in a Fae illusion I'd woven surfaced quickly. I wanted to mention the experience to Sera, but that would have to wait until the waitress who would be bringing me a drink shortly left. Somehow, I'd noted the ever-present aura that the fair folk emitted lingering around the waitress. There were multiple fairies in the Burlesque, causing me to question why my brother might have enjoyed working here. Condescending and predatory, my crystalline gaze fell heavily on the fairy once Serafina offered to tell her what we were if the fairy went first.

" I think that's incredibly fair."
