East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I STAND ALONE AND CURSE AT THE SKY

Feeling Sebastian actually move in on their heated exchange was all Darien needed to know that he hadn't read the signals wrong. Even after Seb had verbally told him, it never seemed true until actual contact happened. Though it felt strange for Darien. Not the kisses themselves, but the fact he was actually having the desire to engage in this type of thing. In the moment, he can't even remember the last time he had kissed someone. He can't remember when someone expressed any interest in him. All this sexual tension had been building for so long that it usually happened like this. It couldn't be contained anymore and he'd actually act like a normal person and want to do something primal.

And, of course, he couldn't remember how long it had been since he had been intimate. He remembered the act itself (and it was with a friend, a woman), but he also remembered how uncomfortable he had been with that. In fact, every time he was with her, it never felt right. His mind even wander so far back to his hormonal teenage years, to a time when he last kissed another boy. That felt good - this felt good. This felt right. "I'm sure you could show me a better one." Could he? Darien didn't have the courage to admit anything more. He couldn't say the truth. It had been locked up for so many years after kissing that boy on that teenage dream fueled night on the beach. All these years, the suppression and uncertainty and expectation to be what was considered socially norm and right. That having any feelings that weren't straight was wrong.

Darien can't blame the alcohol, either. If anything, it was just helping to nudge him to acceptance.

The exciting fear of wondering where this would lead next is suddenly ruined. He's quickly drawn out from his memories. Ever the one to cause a problematic break in anything social, he succeeds yet again in this. In an instant, Seb's seductive tone and allure vanishes (not on Darien, for Darien was in deep). Even the air seems to change. He felt like he was slapped awake from some hazy, fever dream. He sees the wrinkling on Sebastian's forehead, and the snappy disapproval in his voice. Oh no. No, no, no! Darien retreats back to his seat, upset he has potentially wasted this. But he listens, and he listens closely. The music, the sound of the bar. Nothing can drown out Seb's accented voice. He wants to apologize so badly, but his throat is tight and the world was starting to spin. His eyes start to swell with tears. He couldn't say anything, so he listens.

What he hears isn't what he expected. "A vampire?" He chokes saying it out loud, but it's not a tone of terror, but one of surprise. And suddenly it all seemed to make sense. What little he knew (and he knew almost nothing) seemed to answer everything up to this point. All those damn vampire books and movies, they had it all wrong in his eyes now. That weird sensation when he first saw him; it was because his body was trying to tell him he wasn't human. And the teeth? How the fuck did I miss this?! Swallowing his lips, his eyes get a little narrow (and he fights back letting even one tear fall). No, I won't let this pass me by. I won't let this be fucked up. I am tired of fucking things up! Whatever silence was between them, it's shoved away as he quickly fills it with a powerful, strong reply. One of pride, and reverence. His hand reaches to gently grasp the top of Seb's own, and in a last ditch attempt, he tries to take away any feelings of tension from him. In doing so, Darien himself can now feel the discomfort from the vampire. And Darien notices that his power wasn't as strong on him, if he even was inducing any anything on him at all; Darien at least was getting something from it but he's not quite sure it's working. "And I'm Fae, so fucking what?" Well, he's actually trying to pass it off as a minor misunderstanding. That's what it was, right?

He stands up, with actual grace and confidence - at least he thinks so, he might have staggered just a bit from the booze - and he stares into Sebastian's eyes with no difference in longing. Fuck, if he's gonna go kill me, who fucking cares. At least it'll be a fun way to go, and it would piss of mom and stepdad! Sebastian and I will do it six ways from sunday by the time the sun rises! "The night is young! I say we make the most of it! Fuck it all! Let's go do something fun, Sebastian!"
