East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Nadya Tetradore

Nadya was breaking, that much was clear, the slight ebb of calm that the alcohol had afforded her now leaving her system. It seemed alcohol had the opposite effects on the women seeing as Samantha had become...loud. The point would perhaps be moot to try and explain to Samantha that her own powers were still relatively new as well, she simply had the dedicated time to master them...as Sam should do. Nadya could only manage a disgruntled noise as her gaze remained narrowed on the blonde as every fiber of her being fought in retaliation to Sam's behavior. It was certainly a fine line they were being forced to dance along, the area so gray and difficult between employee and brother's girlfriend. "You have forgotten...your time...is temporary here." For a moment Nadya debated on releasing Samantha. Perhaps it would be for the best not to have things muddy and complicated fusing pack and business life too closely. Nadya wished to be back in the burlesque as it was a much more enjoyable place to escape to the sound of music rather than the sound of hollering and fighting. But it seemed that both Nadya and Samantha lived in the realm of fear for certain beings looming just around the corner.

Nadya shifted where she stood, tightening the sash around her waist that held the silk robe around her in an absent manner simply to keep her hands busy and allow her body to release the tenseness that the disagreement between the two women had caused. If she didn't find some way to relieve the tightness to her muscles that urged her to move against Sam, then she would have lost her battle against the beast within and acted in a manner that would have been regrettable later. Nadya explained her reasoning behind the possibility of leaving; at least in the minimal sense without involving too much pack politics with it. Unless Sam was a Were she would truly never understand the gravity behind everything that was going on.

The first touch of Sam's hand against Nadya's skin made her tense up again, nearly jerking away from her in response. Instead Nadya's reaction turned into a wince at winning that internal battle. Nadya moved with Sam to the loveseat by the large bookcase. Many evenings the twins were hidden away up in her office, cared for by their nanny or Samantha as Nadya visited them frequently. Sometimes she would sit with Samantha in this very spot while she read to the twins, one child each occupying a lap. If lucky she was able to catch a small nap with the twins cradled against her chest until Samantha came and woke her for her performances. There were truly too many memories within this room that once Nadya was given the time to look around caused her heart to feel the familiar icy stab.

"I wish it was that...simple." There wasn't any way for Nadya to explain to Samantha how living outside of the Ark wasn't an option. She had done that and been accused for things such as Frost showing up and not being a proper Beta because she didn't live in the Ark. No, Samantha had no need to hear of that inner pack problem. If only things could go back to how they used to be before the Ark where her brother, Tobias, and herself lived together in the apartment. It had been with Isolt but perhaps if the boys hadn't acquired the Ark they could have found another apartment or house even to live together. "Could you...see the Ark babyproofed?...Aiden...would die. There are stairs...and edges...too much. They would...get hurt living there." Her brother's face coming out of his room one day to see a baby gate at ever stairwell and bumpers lining every angled edge of the Ark would be priceless however.

It was Samantha's choice of a singular word that caused Nadya to blanche and quickly shake her head in refusal. "No...I-.." She had never been in love before. This, it was surely something else. Her and Frost hadn't exactly discussed what this was either. He simply showed up, showed kindness to the twins, came bearing gifts for them...and praised her. Her mind was an equal jumble now, unable to tell heads from tails and how to explain just what had happened between her and Frost. Nadya had seen Frost, the part that he showed only to her, the kind heart he possessed...only to be confronted by a darkness that she hadn't known existed. A mask that he apparently wore for everyone else. All that came tumbling out in scattered speech, unable to grasp one thing completely for Samantha to perhaps understand. "I felt like I know...I know him though...And I know that...and I know his heart...And I know what he wouldn't do to hurt me...But I didn't realize that I-I-I...Feeling so confident, feeling so great about myself...And then it just be completely shattered...By one thing, by something so stupid...and then make me feel crazy..." Nadya trembled slightly as she resisted the urge to shift, the feeling to flee and let her beast wipe her mind free of all those human worries.
