East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

At the notion that her time as manager was temporary â€" a thought that the young woman tried too desperately not to stress about, seeing as she now had not one, but two mouths to feed since Dorian was definitely not going to be able to get a job any time soon â€" the young woman found herself closing her mouth, turning away from her every so slightly. Yes, the anger that she was feeling was definitely still there, but for now she would let it simmer. Talking to Nadya here would only result in fights that Samantha could not win. No, it was best to talk to her later. Or better yet, to prove to her that she could handle not only her monarchy, but her powers as well. She would practice, she would figure out how they worked, she would prove herself to be more than the shy faerie that had been dropped off on her doorstep. No, Samantha had grown under Nadya's influence, and she would show the woman that. In time, but not tonight. "I'm... sorry." The words were forced from Samantha as she pinched the bridge of her nose, attempting to calm down her emotions lest she break any more things in the room. When she was certain her emotions could be kept under control, she let her gaze travel to Nadya. "I haven't forgotten. Things have been... difficult, lately." The faerie girl had no intentions of elaborating. Frost's warning to not discuss the things with the woman kept in her mind.

Samantha was glad the woman offered no real resistance as she led her over to the loveseat. Deep down, Samantha was certainly still annoyed with the Were woman, but no, the moment for that argument was long gone. Everything about Nadya's moods seemed to shift, teetering on that... despair? that she certainly felt. She knew how painful it had to be to be away from the twins. Samantha didn't have children, of course, but she had had a family. One that was ripped away from her the moment those girls had slit her throat. She knew that feeling of despair well, and if Nadya needed her comfort, then the woman would put aside their argument to take care of her. The faerie girl was certainly aware of the way the office contained memories for the other woman. After all, Samantha herself would avoid looking at the very loveseat they were placed on. It was too easy to remember the way the twins would curl in her lap while she read â€" she did the best voices, she'd learned, since they seemed delighted by her â€" or how she was one of the few faeries in the building that they wouldn't fuss for.

"It could be," Samantha murmured at the woman's protest, simply failing to understand why it would be so difficult to bring the twins back. Sure, she could hardly see her boyfriend going out of his way to interact with the twins, but surely he'd do anything he could to protect them. And yet, at Nadya's remark about the Ark being baby proofed... "The Ark isn't even Samantha-proofed. It's made of steel and iron, after all." The small tease was hardly enough for the woman to smile; for either woman to smile. "No, I agree. I can't see that happening. But surely there's something." There had to be some way for Nadya to be happy and with the twins. But oh, the emotions that swirled around her made it remarkably clear that there was an option, but just not one that wouldn't crush her boyfriend. Love. Nadya was in love. No, it wasn't the remarkable type that was readable in every aspect of her. But no, just that subtle, barely blossomed kind of love. The kind that made it hard to think about anyone but that person.

"Oh Naddy," Samantha's voice was whispered, every aspect of her tone whispered as she moved to look at her. Even at the woman's protest, it was clear that her heart just wasn't in it when it came to denying how she felt. "Oh Nadya, it's..." But what could she say, really? It was okay to love someone that would crush her brother? It was okay to leave Aiden? Samantha had barely worked out the end to her sentence when the girl began to speak, her words a jumbled mess that conveyed exactly how broken she felt over the whole situation. Samantha listened quietly, hardly offering up any words but still giving the girl her complete attention.

"You're not crazy, Nadya," Samantha said finally, cutting off the woman as she moved in a rather sisterly gesture to tug the Were woman into her arms. She held her close, her fingers stroking Nadya's hair in an effort to soothe her. "Oh Naddy, I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine... I..." She shook her head. "You want him. I can feel it." She tapped her own chest, indicating her power. "You want him, and not because it's the easy route to getting your children back. You want him because you're in love with him... And oh Nadya..." She gave the woman a small squeeze. "Go get him. You deserve to be happy. And you're... you're not." It was clear, as much as it might hurt Aiden, that Nadya deserved better. "This isn't you, Nadya... I'm worried about you. And what will happen to you if you keep pretending everything is okay when you clearly don't feel like it is."
