East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

East

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

As the limousine pulled up quietly to the curb, Dareios' team of people began to flutter, diminishing iPad screens and scuffling about in their seats. One woman moved to Dareios' face, wiping it briefly with some sort of foundation, adding a bit of color to his otherwise undead and blemishless cheeks, and hiding the dark, sunken sockets around his small and beady eyes. He nodded sharply to them all with a tight-lipped grin across his thin lips before opening the door and striding effortlessly from the vehicle. Dareios was no newcomer to crowds, especially gaggles of people lavishly dressed with cold but wandering glares. But the hysteria that seemed to come hand-in-hand with politics still felt rather foreign. Luckily Sacrosanct was a small city in comparison to other metro areas nearby, so the collection of journalists roped off near the bar's entrance was minimal. But still, there they were, a dozen or so of them, with their cameras and their notepads and their questions. A member of his team veered him in their direction. He had rehearsed what sort of sound bites he was expected to say the night before.

"I'm excited to be here tonight at Red on the Water, supporting a historic and locally owned establishment in Sacrosanct. Red on the Water is a cultural icon for our city and a safe place for its minority residents," He said with a delightful lopsided grin. "You should be interviewing the owner instead of me. She's far more charming and perhaps better looking for the camera."

His smile widened, and a moment later he turned on his heels and strutted easily through the front door.

Dareios was too busy shaking the hands of strangers to notice the grand size or the detail of the bar in which he stood, something he usually enjoys doing when exploring new places. It was all much too fast for him to realize that he had in fact been a guest here before. Luckily that time, he was wearing a mask. A member of his team whispered names of wealthy residents in his ear as he shook their hands or leaned in to kiss their cheeks. He moved slowly through the crowds, pretending to enjoy every moment of the spectacle when in fact, he was dying for a beverage. He watched longingly as a waitress passed by with a tray of red wine flutes, eager to grasp at one, but knew better. Wine looked too much like blood. Hell, whiskey was too dark a liquid to pass in the screen surveys he read the results of a week prior. So he waited for a server to approach him, and he begrudgingly ordered a vodka soda.

A member of his team tugged at his sleeve just as he retrieved his drink. He whispered the name "Frost" in his ear and Dareios did his best to hide his perturbed expression. His dark gaze surfed the crowd now, looking for the blond mop of the shifter who had managed to find him. Delicately one hand moved to check the inside of his coat pocket. There his fingertips touched the cool metal of the amulet for but a second before they returned to rest in his trousers pocket. "Please tell him to meet me outside in the alley in an hour." Dareios responded, but before his staff could move away, he tugged at the man's shirt and pulled him in close. "Tread quietly, lad."

It's almost as if Islot parts the sea of strangers in the crowd as she makes her way toward Dareios, who is still hovering near the entryway of the establishment. She is the type of woman that commands the attention of any room, and Dareios is relieved for the distraction. He watches as she glides toward him in a fitted black dress. He takes her hand gingerly within his when she offers it, and bows gently to kiss the top of it.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Islot." He said through a thick Irish accent. "Thank you for being such a darling hostess for this event."

Dareios eyes the thin woman by her side and nods his head to her before offering a hand in introduction.

"Aside from the more obvious reasons, Red on the Water couldn't be more fitting to kick off my campaign," He says, looking to Islot again. "I'm assuming you're Irish as well?"
