North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

She catches on quick that I don't have much to talk about when it comes to my "dear friend" but at least she doesn't push it. She blushes even more at my coy comment, goading my satisfaction once more as she picks on the more pure women of society. It brings a chuckle to my lips.

"It certainly does make them less fun to talk to."

I smirk at her, as if hinting that she's very fun to talk to right now. She laughs and then admits that she might need to stick to her wine.

"A little liquor every once in a while never hurts. Wine is an acquired taste, after all."

I never did much like the stuff, not even when I was getting shit faced drunk on it when I was still human. I just drank to forget the reality back then so anything would do. I guess that means she has an acquired taste for the higher quality stuff. She doesn't seem like a high maintenance girl. As I hold out my hand to her, I hear her soft murmur and I give her a dazzling smile in return as she puts her hand in mine and I lead her out to the dance floor. I know that since she's a little intoxicated, she may be less than graceful but I aim to make her feel like the belle at the ball since I'll be the perfect dancer for both of us.

I know that we're the only ones dancing on this night and I can feel the eyes watching us as we take our place on the floor yet I don't care. She looks into my eyes as if willing me to take her far away from here and so that's exactly what I do. I pull her close, keeping her hand in mine while my other hand drops lightly to her waist so she doesn't feel like I'm trying to cop a feel or anything. I wait for the right beat then I start the rhythm, stepping off and pulling her lightly along with me. I lead but I also guide her along with my body and hands, putting her where she needs to be each time to do the steps just right. One would never knwo from watching that she's anything more than sober and an expert at this dance.

At her confession, I raise a brow.

"You could have fooled me."

I say matter of factly as I continue to glide across the floor with her, even stopping to spin her at the perfect moments before drawing her back to me with one hand. The silence of the room around us is almost deafening and I know it's because everyone is watching us by now but I've never minded an audience before and I don't aim to start now. When she next chooses to comment, I grin this time.

"I'm afraid we don't have that kind of science available just yet, but I'll be sure to let you know when we do. You could say I'm an old soul."

My eyes gleam as I continue to spin her around the dance floor. I could do this all night but I know that at some point, it must come to an end. Her smile dazzles me once more as the song flows into another one and I keep going, though I glance at her eyes to make sure she doesn't want to stop.
