South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

There was a sudden explosion, it sounded like a grenade going off, it instinctually caused the bear to dodge some unseen debris coming his way. The very sound had also startled the hunter that once lay concealed within the newly thickened brush. He inadvertently pulled the trigger, the once careful shot firing haphazardly within his direction. It was a sloppy shot, thankfully. It narrowly missing the bear's head. Animals took off in either which way as he whirled to face the sound those strong stocky hind legs like stone pillars were surprisingly nimble in that very moment. Rage, undiluted and enough to make most men cower entered his shadowy eyes. An irked chuffing sound escaped him, a very potent threat directed toward the one who had dared to shatter his perfect moment of solitude. They were very few and far between. The one moment he took for himself and it was already disturbed. He needed to buy that piece of land he was eyeing just outside of town, it had its own forest and streams running through it. But the very busy business man had been simply too busy to dedicate the time to check it out. It was perfect for someone like him who relished in the sweet solitude his bear craved. A place where he could simply just be.

His fresh catch was suddenly ignored when he took in that precarious scene in front of him, life and death hung within the balance. He had just missed the ebony feline pouncing on that hunter with far more grace than he could ever muster in this form, his place of concealment obliterated. His hazel eyes widened in rare surprise before it pieced together what had happened, the smell of gunfire thick in the air, the once serene forest had been frayed. His lip curled into a menacing snarl. It had been a hunter.. and he was completely oblivious to him. There was the utterly shocking realization that he could have been slaughtered in those moments while he hunted. Slaughtered like the rest of his family before him.

A slew of questions fired within his mind. Who was the panther? Was the hunter sent from the very group that hunted his family? The coincidence was too might and this man was skilled. How else could he not detect him? He had to warn his sister, somehow, after all, this was over, he had to ensure her safety.

There wasn't time to piece the true dismal scenario before him, to truly make sense of it and what it meant for him and his sister. The true threat still lingered and he wasn't about to let the poacher get away. The snarling panther had knocked the hunter tumbling from his hiding place, now out in the open. There wasn't a single doubt that this man was highly skilled and dangerous. The unfamiliar jaguar had leapt off the man, she had clearly done some kind of damage with those massive claws, and the stunned look on the hunter's features. Or was it just shock? For a moment between all the chaos both bear and feline made eye contact for a fraction of a moment, was that surprise in her eyes? There was intelligence behind that stare, recognition at what they both were.

How had he missed not one but two large beings in the woods?

She stood braced and ready for a second assault as the hunter grasped for another weapon, this time it was a pistol which undoubtedly had bullets forged of silver. A voice, her voice entered his mind and it jolted him. That cheeky sarcasm wanted to make him roll his eyes, those lips curling further. He was already moving forward toward the fight, ruthlessly, not giving the enemy before them a true chance to strike again. But the bastard was quick.

It was solid advice from the volatile monster. "This is not your fight. " He growled at her, and yet he didn't want her blood on his hands. She should save herself. He had enough blood on his hands already. Not that he paid much heed, the man was nothing but ruthless and cold to the world at large. The only thing that mattered was his sister's safety and power that he achieved from his ivory tower within the city. His very own kingdom that provided him with the means to keep them safe. Money equaled power in this modern age and the English man had plenty of it. There was not many places he would not go to protect what was his and to survive.

A large grating roar escaped him in that very moment he raised his gun to shoot. But bears don't roar. No, this was not a noise that befitted the polar bear but his power, the power to manipulate sound gave him that ability. It was a tangible blast of sound directed entirely at the hunter, it unsettled the ground and the debris that littered it. Unfortunately, it wasn't before he fired off two shots toward the ebony panther that pounced him.

The explosive sonic blast sent the hunter off balance as that controlled sound probably felt like a gun going off right beside his ear. His ears undoubtedly ringing. A glance cast toward the panther to ensure she hadn't been hit, after all, she had saved him. Intentionally or not. She didn't deserve to die by the hands of someone who was after him and his. Those massive paws launched him forward toward the now scrambling hunter. All that power, all that weight now barreled mercilessly toward that hunter. He undoubtedly had tricks up his sleeve, but so did he.

The hunter as already reaching for his utility belt, he could his face now, but not well considering it had been painted an ugly dark green at that. Before he made it to him, even despite being a step away he dropped a canister that exploded into dark thick oily charcoal smoke. It was enough to obscure his vision of the hunter. How unexpected. If uninjured he half expected the panther to have left by now. It was undoubtedly a tactic to stall so he could plan his next attack. But it didn't stop the bear from lunging into that obscure smoke, at least once, taking the opportunity that he couldn't have gotten far. But unsurprisingly enough the man was beyond reach and by the time the smoke cleared they would most likely be staring down the barrel of another weapon.
