East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I find myself outside the Inner Sanctum, a cozy little cafe I came across while wandering Sacrosanct. The afternoon sun beats down on my golden blond hair as I look through the window. I'm debating on actually going in when a couple comes walking out. They're arguing about something work related, how so and so said something and the guy took it the wrong way and said something to someone else and that's how the girl heard and now her feelings are hurt. it's easy to see that she's just looking for an apology but the guy seems to think he did nothing wrong and he wants her to drop it. My lips twitch as they walk on by. Humans and their petty problems.

Shaking it off, I finally turn and walk through the door. The smell that hits me is refreshing and cozy. Like warm coffee and cinnamon rolls. I take a seat at a booth and a young pleasant waitress comes over with a southern smile I can't help but return. She asks for my order and I tell her a coffee, dark with nothing. She eyes me quizzically but writes it down and skips off with her blond pony tail bouncing. I do love it when their hair bounces. She returns five minutes later with a hot cup and sets it down with an even more dazzling smile, asking if there will be anything else. I assure her that I'm fine for now and she lingers a moment longer before skipping off again.

Sighing as I wrap my hand around the cup, I bring it to my lips, enjoying the smell more than anything. I survey the people over my cup, taking in the smell of the supernaturals that linger here right in with the humans. There are two Weres in a corner conversing about whether rabbit or fish tastes better and a dark hunter in the booth on the opposite wall, eying all of us with suspicion. I make sure to give him a smile just for fuck's sake and he looks down at his plate in a hurry. I know I intimidate a lot of the younger hunters, being out in the sun and all. It spooks them or something.
