East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

Her breathing was low and long but shallow. She could feel the singe of the remnants of the alcohol with each passing exhale. But beyond that, the struggling girl was mostly numb. She didn't realize her equilibrium was off. She couldn't combat the fact that she was sitting sideways, constantly teetering on the verge of tumbling out of the bar stool and onto the hard, sticky floor below her. She could register the fact that she was being touched by strangers, but Buffy was unable to will her body to physically do something about it. It was eerily reminiscent of what it felt like when Jason used his affinity to control her. She could feel her heart beat quickening in her chest as she registered that she was no longer in control of what was happening to her. But still, the dark hunter couldn't do anything about it.

Something was wrong.

Buffy would never admit to being an alcoholic, but she knew her drinking habits were frequent and usually in excessive amounts. Because of herhigh tolerance, she did not get black-out drunk easily. And from her hasty recount, the number of drinks she'd consumed tonight did not add up to how terrible she was feeling now. She didn't really feel drunk, either. Instead she felt slow and ill equipped, inebriated in the way harder drugs would make you feel like being on another plane. She furrowed her brows together, in a very long and delayed fashion as she tried to focus on this notion as best as she could. Had one of these strangers drugged her drink? Buffy tried to bring a shaky hand to her sweating forehand but slipped, sending her limp arm to come crashing onto the bar top. The men around her bellowed in laughter as her slight body lurched forward.

"Gia, my daffodile."

The familiar sound of Sebastian's voice made the hairs on the back of her neck stand in startlement and a chill ran down the length of her spine. Her heart fluttered in her chest with hope, surprisingly not dread. Sebastian was obviously not a personal friend, given their short history of rocky encounters. But Buffy didn't really have friends. And she knew the vampire well enough, (hopefully) to trust him to get her out of what she was at least able to discern as a hairy situation. She didn't fight him as his arm slipped around her waist. Instead, the girl breathed a short sigh of relief, and pursed her lips together in an effort to say something. Saliva pooled at the edge of her lips and it began to dribble some at the corner of her mouth. "Hrrrr---hurry." She said, squinting as she tried to look up at his face, but all she could see were three blurred versions of his one body.

Buffy grunted as she felt Sebastian lift her from her seat on the bar stool. She let the weight of her limp body fall into him and dragged her feet along as best she as she could. As they made their way through the throngs of people, Buffy rolled her head back in an effort to get one last view of the men she'd left behind at the bar, and erratically lifted one hand to flick them off just as they neared the door. Once outside, the cool air seemingly woke her, just briefly, from the strange cocktail coma she was suffering from. She gasped for air with an agape mouth and tried to rub the tears that were welling in the corner of her eyes onto Sebastian's shoulder. "shhh---shh--thanks."
