East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Little angel go away, come again some other day.
The devil has my ear today.

With absolutely no intent of participating in any kind of eccentric and ethnically Celtic fun offered by Red on the Water, my presence near the building offered me no hint of trepidation at the looming building crawling with vampires. Maybe that wasn't a fair assumption, but as the establishment was owned and run by a coven of vampires, perhaps it was on par with reality. Granted, said coven was run by a friend of mine and I assumed that this relationship alone would provide me with some kind of hall pass in the pub, whether that be a glass of top shelf scotch or some kind of VIP table where I was able to speak freely with the proprietor of the fine... dining locale. And maybe it was slightly wrong of me to assume there would be free drinks involved, but after the circumstances that had presented Damon's whoever she was, I definitely wasn't wrong to believe she owed me a drink. Or two. As my distance from the building waned, I was greeted with the jovial sound of what I could only presume to believe was live Celtic music emanating from within Red on the Water. Though I might have been loath to admit it out loud, the tune did inspire a very, very little desire to drink and bound around with a beer in my hand as if I was in Ireland herself and with that in mind, I relegated myself to potentially ordering a beer instead of the scotch I typically ordered.

As I approached the door, the hostess ran her eyes up and down my figure, clearly contemplating why I was dressed so formally. Leaving my job in the office late had afforded me no time to stop by my apartment and don clothing far more appropriate for the situation I was walking into, leaving the little girl to blink up at me as if I were some kind of foreign alien there to swoop her up into my UFO. There would be absolutely no swooping and it wasn't even due to the fact that looking at the hostess might have be oh... y'know, twelve. I brushed past her without a word, the action alone enough to make her sigh in frustration as I had just clearly broken some kind of unspoken rule about allowing the hostess to seat me or direct me on my way. Surrounded by the pale faces of what allowed me the vindication my assumption about the restaurant harboring an excess of the undead, I allowed myself a moment or two to take in the scenery. There were surely other supernatural creatures in the building and even some humans littered the population, but there was no Damon insight... There wasn't any glimpse of the red-headed vampire who owed me a drink, either. Though suffice to say I wouldn't have minded her empathetic company even without a drink, I had business to discuss with Damon. The office of management wasn't terribly difficult to snoop out, and with little more than a knock on the door would I announce my presence to potentially the only two vampires I didn't have any violent intentions towards.

Okay, maybe I can admit that I even might like them both a little.

A little.

"Hiring jailbait to tend your door?" I asked, a wry smile beginning to develop on the corner of my lips as I watched my Shadow flit into the room, happily frolicking around the office. It was only as another shadow approached did it stop, pausing mid jig clearly to inspect whatever was approaching. The hostess tentatively peeked around the corner, worry lines expressing her concern for my appearance in the establishment, let alone my intrusive excursion towards their offices. "Mr.Marcello, Ms.Griffin I'm sorry! He just barged in and I didn't have time to ask you if it was okay that he come to your office..."

"Is this normal behavior for teenagers these days?" I asked, eyebrows rising as if thoughtfully, though my Shadow returned to it's jovial antics.
