East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy

Samantha watched the feline as he moved closer to her, his nose moving through the various items. She let out a relieved sigh as he picked up the ointment in-between his teeth. "Thank you," Sam said, offering the panther a tired smile as she gently reached out to take the ointment. She turned it over, carefully reading the instructions. Her free hand reached out, absent-mindedly petting the feline's head. Her nails scratched behind his ears as she read. "It says that this treats burns," She said with a shrug to the feline, only seeming to notice then the way she was treating him like a common house cat. She blushed slightly, pulling her hand back. "Sorry about that," She said with a chuckle, slowly raising herself to a feet to go and check on the tea. "I had a cat growing up. Her name was Oreo... mostly because she was black and white and I was incredibly unoriginal as a child. She used to always lay next to me as I did my homework and I'd pet her..." Samantha reached up into her cabinet, pulling out two mugs and setting them on the counter.

Turning to lean against the cabinet, she continued. "Anyway, ever since I became..." She waved her hand over her body, indicating her fae nature. "Animals don't really like me a whole bunch. I tried to go home, after they let me go. I didn't quite know what I was at that point. I thought I could go home and be normal. Go back to school. Be myself." She turned around at the sound of the kettle going off, and for a minute the girl was silent as she busied herself with making two mugs of tea. She turned back to him, considering his feline state for a moment before she grabbed a bowl from the cupboard and dumped the contents of his mug into it. "This should be easier," She offered, bending down to place the bowl of brown liquid in front of him. "I didn't know how you take your tea, so I just made it like I take it. Just sugar, and a tiny bit of honey."

She put her own mug down at the table, picking up the tube of ointment again. She was silent as she applied the cream to her arm, only letting out a few tiny moans of pain as she worked to wrap gauze around the injury. It wasn't pretty, and would likely scar, but it hardly seemed to make a difference to her at the moment. She picked up her mug, warming her hands on it as she considered the story she had been telling the feline. "So I tried to go home. My parents weren't there when I did. I don't know. I thought it would be easier if I was just there when they came home. Give me time to think up how to answer the questions, you know? But I got there and Oreo just went... insane. I could just... I could feel the fear and the hatred and it just. I think animals can sense that I'm dead now. She knew I wasn't human anymore. So I didn't even bother staying. I got what I could carry and just took off. I figured it'd be easier that way. My parents could just believe what they wanted to about me."

"I don't know why I'm telling you this," Samantha said, looking at the feline with a small smile. She took a long drink of the tea, allowing the liquid to warm her. "Though, I think it's funny that the first person I'd consider a friend here is a big cat," She teased. "Though honestly, it's hard to be your friend when I have to do all the talking, Aiden." His name fell off her lips easily, the corners of her mouth turning up into a smile as she did so. "I do hope that I can earn enough of your trust eventually that you'll shift and let me actually have a conversation with you at some point."
