He seems intent on finding every piece of gold substance in the room though I can't fathom what kind of value these things must hold for him. He can't eat them so why? I've never stolen anything besides food before. It's all I understand. Why would I need to steal anything else? Food is needed for survival. Money and gold is not. It is a simple mindset but it's all I know. He looks toward my prize with mild puzzlement before pointing out that it's meat. Now it's my turn to look puzzled. I can't help but giggle.

"I know it's not literally a jackpot. Beef is good though. Protein."

My eyes brighten. I'm still quite proud of myself, no matter his own reaction. I watch as he continues to rifle through drawers and such, looking for who knows what. When I ask why he needs that stuff, he fizes me with a strangly innocent look before answering hesitantly. He explains that he gives it to someone named Naddy. The name sounds familiar. Perhaps his name for Nadya? I blink but don't interrupt. She told him they need this green paper stuff. I remember her paying for our coffee and those sweet bagel things with the same stuff but I didn't understand it even then. Why would they need it? Can't they hunt or steal their own food? I remember the name Lucian from the last full moon. He was that other big wolf. He seemed friendly enough, at least with the other big Weres. I scowl.

"I don't see why you need it. Who needs anything more than shelter, safety, and food?"

It seems he's as set in what he needs to do as I am. He puts a necklace in his pocket and calls out to me, apparently ready to move on to another room. I glance down at my prize, ready to carry it out with me as I move toward him and the door. Suddenly the elevator across the hall dings and I pause in sudden fear, having never heard a sound like that before. A man comes out pushing a cart and I watch with curiosity as he comes straight to the room. Tobi starts backing up, nearly running into me and I instantly take a step back, wanting my space. The man suddenly seems embarrassed and I can't understand why. Nudity meant nothing in my pack. It was normal. Tobi is in jeans which I noticed. I guess he can shift with clothes like Raven can. I don't think to hide myself or anything though. It just doesn't occur to me that he's embarrassed by my nudity. Instead I just hold onto the meat, ready for fight for it or run if I have to. The man starts talking to us, mentioning someone named Mr. and Mrs. Atkins. I don't know who they are or what he's talking about so I just glance at Tobi, clearly confused.

Tobi looks as lost as I am, simply blinking at the man as he puts the food he brought on the table along with a bottle of something red that smells bitter and sweet at the same time. When the man holds out his hand, I don't know why he's doing it either so I figure Tobi must know what he's doing when he slaps the man's hand. Of course the man doesn't seem to think so, scowling in disapproval before he leaves the room and closes the door. Tobi stares at the salad in the bowls and I follow his gaze, as puzzled as he is about the green stuff. I sniff the air but it doesn't smell edible. I glance up at his offer of a trade but I snort softly and shake my head, holding the meat closer.

"No deal. I found the meat."

When he glances at the other stuff and asks about it, I shrug lightly before snickering under my breath as I whisper slyly.

"I don't know but I dare you to eat it."
