Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

The man that had appeared at her door was perhaps the first person she'd come across in Sacrosanct that had the faerie woman's brow furrowing with... no, not quite anger. Annoyance? He was a Hunter. Of that, she wasn't naive. And clearly, he was of the variety that believed that his supernatural species granted him some kind of respect, as though he was a dark king sent on protecting the whole world. Still, despite that, the faerie queen was all too willing to humor him with answering his questions, despite the wariness in the pit of her stomach regarding that Dorian himself may be in danger. She would protect him at all costs. Dorian was her best friend, her right hand. It was her duty to protect him as his queen, but more importantly, it was her duty to do so simply because of the fondness she felt towards her roommate.

"Well I care," She replied in the same sharp, blunt tone that the man had used with her. She would comply, but she refused to be walked over. "I went through all the effort of inspiring the loyalty necessary to make my monarchy. The very least you can do it is make an attempt to show interest. It's only polite, after all."

Still, she stepped back and allowed the man access to her home, a gesture that seemed to throw him off entirely. Her eyes never left him as he reached for the dagger within his jacket. She could feel the iron on him, and given the way he instinctively reached for it, she had no doubts that he would feel no apprehension of using the blades on her should she act out. Or perhaps he was cruel enough that he would finish with her after she answered his questions. She was fearful, of course, but that didn't show even slightly on her features as she watched him. "Put that away," She said simply, stepping out of his way to shut the door behind him as he stood in her home. "I'm not going to hurt you or give you any reason to use that." Her eyes flashed up to him, allowing a small moment of vulnerability. "Besides, I am not naive enough to think that I'm any match for a fully trained Hunter."

Of course, she wouldn't admit she had powers of her own, and that she was sure that if necessary, she could and would be able to protect herself. Admitting that would be the kind of thing to get the iron dagger pulled out and into her skin.

"Have I done something to offend you, other than simply existing?" The young woman stated, watching the man seem to squirm in her near presence. She was not stupid. She knew certainly that he hated her for the faerie blood than ran in her veins. Just as she was equally wary of him due to the Hunter blood he contained. But the faerie queen would keep her calm and be kind to him. Pissing off the Hunter's council was a sure way to get herself killed - her followers as well. Despite her natural kindness, she did have a sense of self-preservation.

"And I stand by my statement. I will give you no information that I believe will cause my friend harm," She lifted her gaze to look at him. "He is my friend, as well as one of my... subjects. It is my duty as his queen to make sure that you do not hurt him. And as for my tea..." Her lip quirked up into a small smile as she was teasing. "The last time I drank something a faerie gave me, I ended up being tortured for a week and my throat slit. So I understand your apprehension. I, however, just tend to like green tea."

Her humor seemed to do nothing for the man, so instead she merely focused on watching the man as he spoke, making an effort to show that she was taking him seriously lest he decide that he wanted to use that dagger once more. She was hardly surprised by the news that she presented him with. That Hunters might be after him was something that she had considered. It was that, along with the fact that faeries were after her and her friends, that had her so concerned about him leaving the house. Though ever since the night Dorian had seen her crying on the floor and had reassured her, she'd felt significantly more assured that he would, in fact, be okay.

The queen forced her face to remain neutral as she looked at the photo she was presented with. It was grotesque, and truly she wanted to look away. But she kept her gaze on the picture, her features entirely blank. She knew it was Dorian's handiwork before she was told. She supposed it should have bothered her, but instead it only made her feel more protected. If he could do that to a Hunter, what could he do to protect her?

"I'm not saying he's not capable," The faerie queen spoke, her voice confident even despite the man with the iron weapons who sat near her. "In the case of that Hunter, he was afraid. He had been taken from his home, carried thousands of miles away from everything he's ever known. I'm not saying what he did was right, but I can't say that I wouldn't have chose the same given the circumstances."

She paused, considering the question that was asked of her. Dorian would inevitably work out how powerful he was, just as Samantha had spent the last year discovering her own talents. But as far as Dorian's loyalty, there was not a doubt in her mind.

"No, I don't think he's a threat," She replied honestly, lifting her gaze to meet the Hunter's. "He's strong, I won't deny that. But he's got a heart. He cares for me, and he's fiercely loyal to me. And if he did ever..." The words tasted bitter in her mouth. "If he tried to overthrow me... then I would stop him. Yes, I'm more powerful." And she was, wasn't she? She knew how her powers worked. She knew how to wield them, and she knew that in the event Dorian ever turned against her - a very unlikely thing, she was sure - she would be able to stop him. Even if it hurt her.

"I'm more powerful than I think you anticipate." She replied truthfully, well aware she may have been painting a target upon her own back. She supposed there already was one, wasn't there? "I didn't get to be a queen by sheer luck, you know. I have no doubt that I'm safe from you right now, even with the iron in your jacket."

Her words were not a challenge, not a threat. Merely an observation.
