East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

His insights upon such topics, she thinks, are astounding, her mind very nearly seeming to relish his company in those moments that follow, seizing almost reverently upon someone with whom she could carry out a true discussion rather than attempting to put aside her own opinions to simply find her 'friends' more bearable, seeming to almost delight in his company in those moments before the veritable chaos ensues and the discovery of his true species...perhaps sees her become rather wary of her new acquaintance. It is only natural perhaps, that whatever instincts can be said linger within the human form are content to ward her away from what is so very clearly a predator and yet, she had concluded that had he any desire to actually eat her- he may well have done it by now, unless he was waiting until they were alone someone, the red-haired woman content to maintain a hold on her handbag just in case she should be forced ti make use of it although she had come to doubt how much good it would do against someone whom had thrown a grown man around in the same manner as a dog chews a favoured toy. She was simply going to have to trust, or so she believed, that he was not going to attempt to maul her and leave her to die somewhere. It was all well and good she thought, for the people at the university to write papers about vampires- yet being in the presence of one was a far different experience, her energy nervous still though she did her best to maintain some air of decorum as they walked, the man, surprisingly, maintain the barrier of sorts she had asked for.

That laugh he offers sees a momentary surprise linger upon her delicate features, having not truly believed her question to be all that humorous, the sound of his own amusement however, seeming to tease a quaint smile from herself as she continued to walk beside him, green eyes turning to meet his own gaze in the half light as he proceeded to assure her that the traditional forms of vampire repellents held little effect, listing mere moments after the few things he seemed assured would bring him harm, her brow furrowing slightly.

"Well, all of those seem rather....violent. Except for the sun. If you were to go in the sun, would you just....I don't know....melt?"

He was not an ice-cream cone and yet her understanding of physics along with a number of the other sciences assure her that melting, or some form of spontaneous combustion were perhaps the only logical explanations, then again, by way of being supernatural he already existed outside such laws- the possibilities of her own question seeming to ensnare her mind once more. She hardly had any use for such information, truly, the girl having no desire at all to bring him harm in any way- simply finding such a topic spoken about with an actual vampire, rather than argued about in a classroom full of humans whom seemed to have little actual idea was far more stimulating.

"What you said before, about the Were's and the loyalty...."

She pauses, assuring herself she held his attention once more before going on, the delicate feminine lilt to her voice easily reaching his ears as that look of contemplation touched her face again.

"I think, you can breed loyalty into people- but only to an extent. I don't believe unquestionable loyalty exists, not in any species that possesses free will. It's subjective. I think children take on the values of their parents, yes, but as they grow and learn they shape their own view of the world based on their experiences. Loyalty can change. It is cults, things like that which attempt to hold peoples loyalties by removing any outside influence and yet even then, people question. A person....a being with options or knowledge will never be truly loyal- at least, their minds can always change. As long as free will exists, complete loyalty does not, it has limits, I think."

She turned to look towards him once more, startled perhaps, by so freely having admitted her ideals in this regard, even then she was not so entirely sure of her own answer and yet it seemed to express her thoughts on the matter well enough. For now however, she felt that heat rise to her cheeks once more, slightly embarrassed at having gone on for so very long, arms wrapping slightly tighter about herself in an effort to hold back the evening chill, pleased to be very nearly home as they moved to round the corner of yet another block, the lights of Anacosta Heights clear now as she wandered beside the vampire gentleman, slightly more at ease perhaps, though still remaining at least an arms-length away from the fangs she knew rested just behind his lips.

"This is me."

She gestured towards the lovely little townhouse on the corner, coming to a halt outside the brick building, the little garden outside she taken dibs on a splash of colour against the neat white trimmings of the windows, the house as neat and meticulous as the girl herself as she paused beside the steps, evidently...insecure once more, manners arguing against general sense.

"Damon, would you like to come in for umm, like a cup of tea or something....I mean....do you....do drink tea? I have biscuits if...oh....do you eat biscuits?"

Would he even be able to cross the threshold of her door? Vampires she thought, were rather limited beings in some regards and really, she is not entirely sure she wants him inside, then again, he had, well, saved her and she feels she can surely offer him the liberty of a biscuit for his efforts. He hadn't attempted to eat her yet and as such she is half inclined to believe he isn't going to, at least, not right now.

"If you have somewhere to be that's fine but, it wouldn't be right not to ask, you helped me and that is more than my own species has done so far."

She holds herself upright once more, determined that if anything, he should at least think he had made the effort to save a decent person, although why what he thought of her mattered at all she hardly knew.
