East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Alexander could hardly deny that his thoughts had not failed to linger upon the young were-fox despite the months that had passed since their last encounter. It was impossible not to. She had been the first woman he had shared his bed with in several centuries and the first ever to abandon him immediately afterwards. At first he had been concerned for her welfare but with his rather limited knowledge of her and his subsequent trip to Siberia, Alexander had sadly little time to devote to tracking her down, not to mention even less hope of finding her. He knew she was skittish by nature, that he could not deny and yet, he had hoped perhaps something more of this budding thing the pair had slowly begun to create. It disappointed him - to be denied that which had once held so much promise. She was the first woman in centuries whom had caught his interest and the first in perhaps all of eternity to immediately see fit to leave him afterwards. Alexander could hardly deny that it left him wondering - had he done something to provoke this all? Had she deemed sleeping with a Hunter as that reputable of a thing that leaving had been a necessity?

Rather than lingering on such dismal thoughts, however, the Dark Hunter did what came naturally for him; he moved on. That wasn't to say that he took a new soul to share his sheets but he had hired someone new to assist in manning the front of the cafe. She was hardly very useful yet, being young and entirely new to the business herself but she was learning and so, Alexander left the young were-horse at the register to deal with the customers and money while he fulfilled the orders that steadily poured in. Although Alexander was losing his interest in his own business, the cafe was still booming as much as it had the first day he had opened it. Presently, the cafe was beginning to slow down, the evenings during the day were but a small trickle of people. It left the pair time to recuperate from the lunch rush. His hands worked with dexterity as he wiped down the rods that made the steamed milk on the espresso machine. His thoughts drifting with the methodicalness of such actions. His back was to the door though he was hardly oblivious to the ring of the bell. His own instincts informed him that his newest patron was a were though he ignored it much in the same fashion that he had the majority of the day. He trusted Calliel to handle the register, instead tossing the now dirty rag onto the sink with a soft sigh.

It was the sound of his name in a vaguely familiar tone that caused the man to pause, his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly as he turned to face the petite young woman. His chiseled features surely mirrored the surprise that Alexander felt at her return though he was hardly displeased by it. "Alexis?" He inquired, her name but a soft whisper on his lips. It had been the first time he'd actually spoken the syllables that made her name. He had always explained her to Calliel as 'my previous barista' or lumped her into 'those damn weres that keep leaving'. It was his effort to alienate himself from those feelings that plagued his solitude soul. The man nodded ever so slightly, his blue-green gaze steadfast upon her the entirety of the time as he made his way around the counter. He could tell there was something decidedly different about her. She didn't shrink from him the way that she once did, she held herself differently. Something had happened. Never the less, Alexander led her away from the prying eyes of the public and up the stairs to the very loft he had last seen her within. His eyebrows were furrowed when he finally turned to face her and yet, Alexander failed to embrace her in the fashion that perhaps lovers should. Like her, he was scarcely sure of where they stood and with her previous timid demeanor made him hesitant to cross any lines he might have otherwise and so, instead, he asked the question that was lingering upon the forefront of his mind - "Are you okay?"
