East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Just another Night to Kill

Beginning my morning with a jog is always the best way to wake me up followed by a hot shower and then there's work to be done around town. By the time the sun is setting, I'm ready for dinner at one of the cozy little cafe's in town. I've only gotten to try a few so far but I'm planning on eating at all of them by the time I'm ready to leave this city. After all, I've got to know who serves the best burgers in town. I also like scoping out the locals while I dine, memorizing their faces and types if I can pick it up by their smell or other clues. Pointed ears are one thing, but Were's usually come with an animal odor of some kind, some less potent than others depending on the species.

Vampires smell like death, no other explanation needed. I can smell their rotting corpses across a room, no problem. Okay, so I have a bias. So sue me. Maybe I wouldn't if my mom wasn't killed right in front of me, drained down to her bone marrow by one of those fuckers. I was only twelve years old so I knew good and well what was happening. Doesn't help that my dad is a hunter so he taught us all about the different species of supernatural in the world. He didn't want that life for me and my brother but you can't always get what you want. Needless to say, when my dad walked out on us five years later, we picked up a gun like it was second nature and started hunting. We worked around the whole iron thing and found weapons, even made our own at times.

Life was good until we got into one of our own charismatic sibling feuds and my brother, being the immature younger brother that he is, walked out on me. He made sure I couldn't follow his trail and though I waited as long as I could, something told me he wasn't coming back this time. I've been on my own ever since, taking out the vamps and the dark fairies and the feral Were's all by myself. I'd say I've done a pretty badass job if I do say so myself. I haven't seen anything like that since I got here but the Council wanted me here for a reason. I just got to find it. I'm still trying to learn the politics here. There's Were packs and at least one vamp coven that I know of. I've also gotten the honor of meeting the fairy queen. But it seems other fairies have been a bit scarce.

Until today. I picked up on her magical perfume from across the cafe. I'm sitting three booths over, enjoying my cheeseburger. I just happened to make out her ears to confirm my theory and I wasn't going to make anything of it when I hear her mumbling in frustration. Glancing over, I notice the phone still lighting up in response to some new message or something and she seems at a loss either to check it or the person on the other end is the source of her frustration. Usually I don't get up in other people's business but I think I can make an exception this time. I get up and reluctantly leave my cheeseburger on the table. Walking over to her, I take a seat across from her and glance at the phone. "May I?"
