East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He believed that schedules and routines were for the dull at heart. He had lived his human life with spontaniety and he lived his vampire life the same way, with surprises around every corner. He often made up a plan on the fly and relied mostly on instinct and impulses when a decision was needed. No, it wasn't always the best way to handle every situation, but it was all he knew. He ate when he was hungry, hunted or found a way to amuse himself when he was bored. He was not a creature of habit unless you count the habit as doing whatever the hell he felt like at any given moment. He liked to mix things up a bit every time he thought of it. His prey was always different. You name it, he's eaten it. Child, man, woman, every ethnicity, every flavor. No two tasted the same and Damon was determined to eat every jellybean in that bag. He had lived through it all so this place was no different than any other that he'd been in in the past 200 years. His family was an old one and they grew up rich in a plantation house with slaves and everything. He grew up wearing nice clothes and getting pampered and yes, it did go to his head. He was used to getting everything he pleased, from trinkets and wine well before he was of age to any girl he set his sights on. Most of the time they reciprocated because of his status but over time he was known as a womanizer and then he had to change his game a little, add charm to the mix. Still, banquets and balls were in his past and he found them rather droll now. He'd been to his share of keggers and backyard barbeques and found them to be more tempting if only because of smaller groups and more places to hide a body.

Every girl dreams in fairy tales but Damon lived through them and frankly, he found them boring and quaint. He wanted wild and unpredictable now. He hadn't meant to offend Yumi with his comment about women being so hard to read but as he watched her gaze drop down and her fingers start fiddling, his brow raised in question. Her voice was low but thank God for vampire hearing because he picked up on every word as she blamed the cashier and his protective instincts kicked in. His eyes gave a mischeveous sparkle as he looked away for a minute, the corner of his lips quirking.

"Did she now..."

His voice trailed off thoughtfully before he gave her his crooked smirk and his face lit up, dropping the troublesome expression. Oh, he had plans for everything. He could tell Yumi wanted to change the subject though with how fast she was to ask after where we were going. He led her down the street to a fancy restaurant and leaned in to tell her to act like she belonged. She sighed but he saw a flicker of something almost nostalgic in her eyes and his brow raised, wondering maybe for the first time about her past. What was Yumi like before she turned? He realized that he had never asked her. Maybe he should ask after that some time, if she was open to talk about it, of course. He knew sometimes the story could be painful. Look at Isolt. It took her ages to open up to him about her maker and even now he felt like he didn't have the full story. He just didn't want to push her. Getting past the bouncer was easy enough. All it took was a little staring contest and some Damon mojo and he was batting his lashes like a whipped pup. As they moved into the crowd, he felt his body relaxing. He could also feel Yumi's close presence but he didn't mind in the slightest. She was a pretty girl and he didn't mind watching over her and helping her blossom. He was sure she had the confidence in her, he just had to help it sprout to life.

He let her look around the crowd, giving her time to get her bearings since he could tell she was a little tense in such surroundings. Instead he gently nudged her into it and watched as her gaze caught on someone before pointing them out. His brow raised, intrigued. Her voice finally had a ring of confidence to it, a ring of finality and he liked it. His lips curled into a grin as he nodded.

"Then go get 'em, tiger."

He cheered her on in an encouraging remark. Sensing her sudden hesitation, he laced his arm through hers, planting on a warm smile as he led her gently over to the man's table.

"My man, put her there!"

He yelled over the crowd as he leaned over to shake the man's hand. At first, he seemed taken by surprise but all it took was one look in Damon's eyes and the man's lips tugged into the smile of old friends as he threw his other hand on top of Damon's, the handshake more hearty than it was previously. "Sit down, sit down!" The man proclaimed, moving aside for them and Damon made a show of bowing and holding out his hand for Yumi to slide in the booth first, closest to the man. After she arranged herself, he slid in beside her, throwing his arms on the back of the booth and leaning back, completely relaxed as the man slid into an easy conversation with them. Easy, peasy. The people around them weren't even taking notice, too busy with their own conversations and wine. This was an exchange of friends like any other. See? He liked to pride himself on being an excellent wing man.
