East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She was sure he could see right through her to see that she was nervous about the whole idea of a date. She'd never been on one so could you really blame her? She didn't want to make an idiot of herself in front of Alexander. She already felt out of her element when it came to him. He was royal and a Hunter and immortal. He was also thousands of years old and had seen pretty much all of history from the beginning of Earth. Okay, so maybe not that far back but surely not too far off. It intimidated the hell out of Alexis. She was just a mere mortal, here for such a short time compared to him. She wasn't anything like the girls he was probably used to, all prim and proper and wearing the most fashionable clothes and probably filthy rich too. She had no money to her name. She was basically a savage from a tribe in the woods that didn't know anything of civilization till just a year or so ago and he was Prince Charles.

But she told herself that he must not want a girl like that because he had chosen her. He could have pretty much anyone. There was plenty of girls that made eyes at him in the cafe, from the employees to local clientele. Yet he didn't bat an eye. That meant something. She straightened up, trying to re-find her confidence. She wasn't about to let a little glitch in her insecurities get her down. This was a night for fun and spending time with her favorite guy. This was about trying new things and getting to know more about Alexander. He told her she looked good and she took it all in stride, thanking him for his compliment. She was sure he was trying to comfort her in that way of his, trying to help her see that she fit in just right, not that she felt he'd care if she didn't. He didn't offer an explanation of the word he used in another language but she found that she didn't care what it meant. If the way he said it was anything to go by, it must mean something endearing or at least not anything disgusting or bad.

He asked if she was looking forward to tonight and she took that as a cue to step closer, aching for that physical contact with him. She admitted that she was nervous about the horses. She knew it was her idea but the more she thought about being on a horse's back, the more vulnerable she felt. Some of them were pretty tall and that meant a longer way to fall. Plus she worried that they could pick up on her animal side and might spook or be afraid of her. She was sure he understood that though. When he said that her failing in riding would be a failure on his behalf, she gave him a look of puzzlement and so he explained. She quirked a brow, truly impressed as he admitted that he was known for being a great horseman and that he would take it as a mark on his own record if he couldn't teach her to ride. She smirked. "Then I guess I couldn't ask for a better teacher." Her eyes sparkled at him teasingly.

She fixed his collar, remarking that she was jealous of the horse and she noted the new look in his eyes as he teased about the end of their night and where it might lead them. She certainly wouldn't complain if they ended up back in his loft or even a cheesy hotel room. She wouldn't care where they were as long as she was with him. His hand reached for hers and she entwined her slender fingers with his rougher ones naturally, following as he led her toward their dinner destination. She asked what it meant by the restaurant not being there for long and he readily agreed with her theory, telling her it was only here tonight. She grinned. "Oh goody. I can't wait to see what they have." The idea of new places excited her and she liked trying new foods. She followed him easily toward the back of the restaurant, and from the shadows she saw a black fancy car. Her eyes widened, looking from him to the car. "Is this yours?"

She didn't recall ever really seeing him in a car before, not that he needed one between work and home since he lived there. Before they always seemed to end up where they wanted to be by walking so she never thought too much of it. She was still getting over her nervousness when it came to vehicles but she felt better being with Alexander. As he held open the door, she smiled and easily lowered herself into the passenger seat, her hand gently brushing his forearm as she did so. "Why, thank you, good sir." She said softly as she settled herself into the seat and pulled the seatbelt across her chest. After snapping it, she looked up, eager of her surroundings as he got in. Her eyes twinkled. "So, do you own your own stable? You spoke of leading armies on horseback. Do you have a lot of horses?" She decided on the way to the restaurant was as good a time as any to fish a little, see what she can find out about the man she was falling head over heels for.
