East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Oliver Burton

The world seemed to be blanketed in an otherworldly lull, even during this hour there were usually more people around than this. Not that many people dared to bother him when he walked these streets, his imposing form and aura was usually enough to keep most at bay. That commanding sense of who he was, a predatory essence that was fierce, calculating and deadly. Anyone who would take one look into his darkened eyes would glimpse into a soul that was hardly human. Its intimidating nature made it all too easy to take what he wanted in the corporate world.

Which was exactly what did tonight as he sealed yet another deal at a business meeting, which went on far later than he wished it to. But he needed to seal that deal to make sure he had his potential client right where he wanted, he was in a position where he couldn't say no. It was almost too easy how the client fell into the palm of his hands. Regardless of the victory, it was a longer walk home than the ones he usually took, especially after the meeting took more out of him than he wished to admit. He usually enjoyed those warm summer nights as it was a much-needed reprieve from the oppressive heat that daytime provided.

The dark-haired man wanted nothing more to meet the solitude of his apartment. In fact, that was exactly where he was heading now, the walk would be quiet enough, to allow some time to unwind from another hectic day. He hardly expected any distractions.

The lights played oddly on objects tonight, the shadows that seemingly stained the concrete harshly. It was the perfect scenario for the lost little lamb to become slaughtered, a perfectly macabre scene for a tragic ending. It wasn't all that difficult to spot a woman, so akin to that lost little lamb, wandering those streets, looking up at the building that threatens to swallow her whole as though she were searching for something. She caught the corner of his eye as he stood at the crosswalk, waiting impatiently for the light to turn. It felt like an eternity as car after car whirled by.

That was when he was suddenly approached by that woman, she practically b-lined it straight for him like she was on a mission. It was when her voice reaches out to the Englishman that he turns his head to face, impatience, and shadows playing upon his dark features. He could practically smell the fear and nervousness that emanated from the petite woman, it was tangible. "Hm?" He prompted her to continue. She then began to explain her situation, that she was lost. The poor girl stumbled through every word that dropped from her pink lips, tripping over those very words. It was obvious to him, that he was not the only one who had a rough evening.

Their size difference was quite obvious to the towering mogul, how small she was in comparison to him, how tiny those wrists were, her frame dwarfed in comparison to his. Then again, he was quite used to the feeling of dwarfing others with the sheer size of that polar bear he shifted into. He was slightly surprised that she would admit how helpless she was in a city such as this, it wasn't just the buildings and normal bustle of that town that could devour you whole. After all, it was night and with darkness, it coaxed forth a wide array of frightening creatures.

Oliver was hardly trusting of people and their motivations, so the cell phone was out of the question, for now, at least until he could sniff out the girl's incentives. It was hardly surprising that he was slightly suspicious as he watched her closely, hawk-like, as if trying to dissect exactly what he wanted to know. One thing he was entirely aware of was that she was human, he could tell from her emotions and her scent that reached his nose as he inhaled. His gaze then noted how her cheeks bloomed as blood flowed to her cheeks as if embarrassed, taking a step back. Maybe she had caught a glimpse in those imposing predatory eyes and regretted her choice to approach him. His gaze, however, caught movement, a lone figure that seemed to hover rather than walk with any true purpose. The whole scenario seemed entirely... suspicious. She was fiddling with her hands now, everything about her seemed nervous, perhaps even scared. "Where do you need to go?" His English accent rang clear within his words, the smooth rich baritones of voice reach towards the petite woman's ears, his powers to manipulate sound seemed to unintentional enhance his very voice.

He was hardly sure if this was some routine to attempt to steal his phone. But then again that would not go very well for the human that tried that fast one on him. It would almost make him feel.. bad. He didn't want to let his inner bear to get the best of him though, so he chose to play this out, gathering as much knowledge as he could before he determined if he intended to help her. There was a callousness to the man that he couldn't quite help but shake when it came to people in general, save for very few people. But that was fine, it kept him and his sister alive, had it not? There wasn't much that he wouldn't do to ensure the safety of those he cared about.

It wasn't in his nature to help a stranger, in truth, it was better when he kept his distance and besides, most stayed away instinctually. Human's did no good for his kind, after all, it was a human who hunted him now. However, his eyes continued to sway over to that lone figure who seemed to attempt to melt within the shadows, trying desperately to avert his gaze but unable to keep his gaze away for long. Hmm. Maybe this woman was a ploy to distract the man in nice clothes before they robbed him blind. If only they knew who and what he was, they would be regretting their poor decisions very soon.

"Are you aware that someone is following you?" He probed, looking for more information, to see a crack in that innocent demeanor. Like a cat toying with a mouse.

He would not be played for a fool.
