East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS Isolt

Slipknot plays through the speakers of my car as I pull up to the tiny shop Isolt asked me to meet her at. I don't know why she doesn't like me to know where she's living. It's not like I'm going to judge. I might tell her it's not good enough for her and wisk her away to my place until i can buy her a better house but that's not the same thing as judging. I just want the best for her. She somehow talked me into letting her pick out decorations for my house this christmas. The mansion is a big place so I don't doubt she'll splurge but that's okay cause I told her just pick it out and I'm buying. I think she's only okay with it cause it's my house we're decorating but I'll take what I can get, just to spend more time with her. It feels like the more time I spend with her, the more I want to spend with her. There's just something so lively about her that I guess in turn, it makes me feel more alive. Plus maybe I'm itching to find a sprig of mistletoe hanging down somewhere.

I put the car in park and let it idle as I wait, glancing around to see if I can pick out her flaming red hair but so far I don't see her. I check my watch. Yep, it's eight o'clock, right when I told her I'd be here. I scowl and keep looking, my nerves only cranking up a notch at the thought that something's keeping her up. I run a hand through my hair and lean back in the driver's seat, letting the festive music of rock take my mind away. The last time I was with her, I managed to sneak a kiss but it wasn't enough to tell if she even wanted it. I didn't risk another that night cause I didn't want to push her away with my advances. What Isolt and I have is actually very precious to me and I don't want to lose her because of my insignificant male hormones. But what if I set back and someone else moves in and takes her heart before I get the chance? Then I'll only live with regrets for not making my thoughts more clear. Such a balance between friendship and more. Between losing a good friend and making them something so much more.

Oh, I almost forgot. I pull the tiny box out of my pocket and set it on the passenger seat. A little blue jewelry box with a pink bow. I just hope she likes it. I smile to myself before leaning my head back into the seat. I close my eyes briefly, letting my other senses take control. My hearing and smell kick it up a notch and suddenly I'm able to pick out every pair of shoes on the sidewalk beside the car. I can hear the faint chatter of patrons within the shop, picking out little knick knacks they think their friends or significant other might like. There's a group of teenagers in there and they're not up to anything good. I hear a soft whisper telling someone to do it quick while the clerk's back is turned and then someone else hissing air through their teeth in a nervous manner. Then I hear their quickening steps as they beat it to the door. The tinkle of the bell lets me know that they're leaving, three of them by the sounds of the feet. One must have pocketed something. The corner of my lips crinkle. Doesn't take the holidays to bring the shop lifters out into the open anymore. They're just more daring during the busy season.
