East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He only seems to be trying to placate me and while I still have ideas of escape once the storm is over, I don't think I can write this place off entirely either. His presence isn't like the other hunters I've been around. He actually seems welcoming, like the idea of me existing doesn't totally disgust him. He has yet to grab for a weapon and he doesn't act tense like he wants one, either. When he asks about showing me how to make hot chocolate, I can't help the curiosity building in my veins. While the idea of being closer to him in the dark makes me tense, I think it might not completely be because of fear. While there is a healthy stirring of that in me when it comes to a hunter, I also notice other things about him the longer we hang out. He has a warm voice, one that soothes me rather than putting me on edge. His face is classically handsome, like something out of a romantic movie, the kind I've been watching a lot lately when I'm home alone.

His eyes are soft when I could see them before the darkness. I can feel his soothing presence even now in the darkness. As he moves away and then stops, I watch with curiosity, wanting to know what he plans next. As he moves toward the stairs, I feel my skin prickling with a strange energy. Not forboding exactly but a mixture of eagerness and that healthy tingling of not knowing what I'll find upstairs. Is it an attic or an extension of the cafe? Is it where he lives? I've heard of some business owners making a loft upstairs to sleep in. He guides me with his sot voice and I've already grown to like the sound of it, so much so that I don't tell him that I can see the steps just fine now that my eyes have adjusted. I'm usually out more in the dark anyway, a night time scavenger. I nod along to his directions, moving in his shadow up the stairs. Once at the top, I pause, looking around with a cautious curiosity. I murmur before I know that I'm voicing my thoughts out loud.

"So you do live up here."
