East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I don't know what got into my head to go to this party to begin with but any reason to get out of the forest and do something other than sulk over the direction my life has taken is the way to go. I do enjoy my job anyway, no matter how hectic it gets. Alexander is very patient with me and I appreciate that so I'm sort of hoping he'll be here tonight so I can thank him. Not like I haven't already tons of times but maybe tonight we can hang out some more and get to know each other. I'm also kind of hoping I'll get to meet some new faces too. Maybe tonight won't be so bad. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself as I put in my fake fangs and do another twirl in my black red dress, completely with satin black gloves that go to my elbows and black leg stockings that end in lace up black boots to my knees. It's goth but that's what a vampire wears, right? At least a costume of one.

I thought it was pretty humorous since I know vampires will be there. Heck, they're the ones who sent out the invitations but I bet most won't be dressed as their own kind. They'll want to be do something more original than that. So I went out and bought the outfit and the fake fangs and the red contact lens so I can look the part. I even painted my nails red. I style my hair down and take one more look in the mirror before I head out toward the party, pulling at my corset top over and over again since it feels so tight and uncomfortable. I nod politely to the door man, my eyes instantly raking over the scene before me. When I see the familiar crown of curls near the bar, I duck my head and disappear into the crowd, trying to avoid Raven at all costs. I figure she must still hate me and believe me a traitor to her friendship for trying to get Frost away from her and then she got hurt. I will admit I'm glad to see her out and about. That has to mean she's feeling better.

I find myself on the other side of the pub, sitting at a table in the corner. A drink is brought to me and I smile and thank the waitor before taking tiny sips. Wow, all you taste is the alcohol but at least it has a sweet aftertaste. When someone suddenly approaches, I look up in surprise, eyes going wide as a hand is extended and it suddenly occurs to me that there's music playing. Am I being asked to dance?
