East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I didn't know what was going on when those images appeared before my mind. Sure, I knew they were inventions from my own mind but who else was watching them with me? The whole thing is overwhelming and confusing so when he apologizes, I don't know what to think. The whole idea of him being the one to see him kissing me in my mind would just be horrifying and downright embarassing. That's why I wanted to run. Just the idea that he watched all that is enough to make me want to melt into a puddle right here and now.

I wait as he releases my arm, knowing that he might have seen everything I just imagined in my mind and I bite my lower lip, lost in what to do next. Should I take the risk and run for it? Would he come after me? But something that keeps me anchored is the idea that if I ran, what would I do next? Would I avoid him and never come back to work? The idea of such a thing frightens me more than the idea of what he could have saw in my mind. The idea of never seeing him again makes my gut twist. I've come to rely on Alexander's warm nature more than even I was aware of. He's much more than my boss and friend. He's someone I can turn to. Who would have thought I'd feel this way about a hunter?

The last thing I expected was for him to come toward me. I stand my ground but it would be a lie to say I don't tense up somewhat, unsure of what's coming. As his hand reaches out, I tense up more and even close my eyes some, holding my breath as I wait for another vision or something but instead I only feel his fingers on my jeans this time. As his other hand curls around the back of my neck, I open my eyes and my mouth in a sharp inhale, not used to such touching. And the moment I open my eyes, I see his closing as his face comes ever closer. Could this really be happening?

Before I know it, his lips are melded to mine and my world is flipped upside down. My heart starts hammering and breathing is all but forgotten. At first my eyes are wide open, unsure of what to do but over the next few seconds, instinct starts to kick in and my body responds as it never has before. My body starts to relax and my lips respond in kind, my eyes slowly coming to close as my hand rests on his forearm, the other reaching out to cling to the bottom of his shirt to pull him closer still. At the same time, my mind is abuzz with questions. Like WHAT AM I DOING? The idea of rejection is so deeply ingrained in me that my heart feels like it's already breaking, my body already anticipating him pushing me away and it's probably only been a couple seconds since he made the decision to kiss me.
