East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Darien's eyes couldn't help but look at the remaining two shots in front of them as Sebastian spoke. The boozer that normally lay dormant inside him was just begging tonight to be watered. A part of him felt guilty about his binge-behavior, and that his attention was on getting wasted. For all honesty though, Seb was managing to pull his attention away from those thoughts. Not quite enough, though, it wasn't his fault. An addict is blind to everything in that moment. He was getting ready to grab another shot, not even noticing Debbie had taken away his empty beer bottle and replaced it with a new one, when their handshake brought a weird sensation to his entire body. That was enough to make his mind go from 'drink, drink, drink' to 'hey now'.

Even just a shake was unusual, Darien normally would go so far as a hug, but he always made sure there was some cloth to prevent skin to skin. Sebastian was the one who seemed to want the contact to remain a little longer. And for the first time, in a long time, Darien realizes he nearly forgot what it feels like. What was strange though was how cold his hand felt. It is Winter. When Seb finally lets go, a part of Darien didn't want him to. It's the booze. They're getting to me.

Hearing the compliment of Darien being the most worthwhile in this place, he could feel his heart beat a little faster. And he actually starts to blush. Darien didn't receive many compliments, so when he did get one, he was at a loss for words. He didn't know how to properly accept or respond. His gaze turns to those shots and seeing no better opportunity, he takes another one and knocks it back. The burn now just a tickle in his throat, though he still scrunches his nose and places it (a bit clumsily and not with grace like his company) next to his last empty shot glass. He now notices the beer Debbie had left, and he reaches over to take a swig of that too. And to grasp in his hand like a stress relief.

By now, he's starting to feel the buzz.

While he might have been trying to cover up his sudden shame of his blush, he never once faltered from the conversation. With one elbow on the bar, his body was entirely facing Sebastian now. He had rotated in his stool and never noticed. "I'm no one, too. Just at the wrong place at the right time." He motions to the three businessmen who still sat down the bar from them, their backs all now turned away. "But I guess it's turning into a right place at the right time for once." His eyes dart to meet Sebastian's after he said that. He tries to admire the man's good-looks, from the shape of his jawline to the little curve his lips made. Darien feels .. relaxed. He thinks it's all the drinks finally kicking in. Indeed he was still a little uncomfortable, but for once, he didn't feel so socially awkward. Something about Seb made Darien like the man, be interested in him, want to listen to him. Darien ... was he getting a crush? The thought of doing anything more than this with him made those butterflies in his stomach flutter even more. His face becomes even redder, embarrassed by the rush of dirty thoughts that sudden flooded his mind. He's just being nice. I'm reading into this too much.

"I just got here like, maybe a week and a half ago. Just took a bus and came here, left it all behind. I came here ... looking. Not sure if I'll find it." He mean't other supernaturals, but dropping something like that, he knew they'd run him to the loony bin in a second. He keeps it vague. But maybe too vague. He adjusts his seat, seemingly getting a little closer to Sebastian. His voice becomes low, like he was about to tell a horrible secret. "Can I just tell you that you have very beautiful lips. You're very .. you have an animal magnetism about you." Oh wow ... did I seriously just say that? He chugs some more of his beer, looking away at Debbie who was struggling once again to find something on the shelves for a customer. He feels more embarrassed than ever before. "I'm sorry if I just made you uncomfortable. I'm not usually this forward, and I forget not everyone is open to everything. I don't-I really don't talk to people much. I might have just been reading things wrong, as usual." He was tip-toeing around, what he thinks, is a mistake now. It was a perfect storm crashing down on him tonight. Darien wasn't acting or thinking like himself, and he feels guilty for this. He feels like he might have just killed the conversation and made, what he hoped, a new friend uncomfortable and want to leave. Plus, Darien actually feeling attracted to someone? Am I running a fever? What's going on?
