East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

There was something about the redhead that was so incredibly enticing to the Victorian Hunter. She was so blunt with him, so unwilling to let him let his guard down around her - not that he would have to begin with given her status as a part of the Council. Though she was quickly proving that she was nothing like the countless other Council drones that had been sent after him to arrest him. She seemed interested in him in a way that no Hunter had ever shown before, and it was that alone that had him rooted in his spot as he stared at her, speaking of the simple fact that the Council would never stop coming for him until he was within their grasp and a mindless puppet. One he would never be if he could help it. He was hardly surprised when the woman confirmed this thought - it had gone through his mind for the last hundred years, after all. It was that she insisted she could help him that had his interest. "And why would you want to help me? Isn't it your job to help them?" He inquired, though he already knew she was nothing like one of those mindless Hunters. She thought for herself, and that alone interested him.

Still... he wasn't too thrilled about going anywhere with her. For all he knew he would find himself in handcuffs or locked in a cell somewhere until they broke his spirit. So the Hunter did what he did best - attempt to distract. The brush of his lips on the back of her hand had her staring at him with that peculiar expression as though she was simply onto all of his tricks. And perhaps she was. When he inquired for her name, he was pleased that she leaned in closer to him. But the words she offered him were not what he had expected at all, and the Duke pursed his lips together as he leaned back. "You drive a hard bargain, ma belle," He teased, though any of his playful demeanor was replaced almost immediately by the anxiety that plagued him as that sleek black car pulled up beside them. Every single fiber of the man's being told him to run and to not get in that car. That car meant entrapment.

And yet.

Curiosity seemed to have got the best of the Duke as he watched her move towards the car. He stood frozen for a moment merely watching her. But then he moved forward, his hand reaching out to grab ahold of that handle to the vehicle to wrench the door open. His eyes scanned the backseat quickly to assure himself that there were not a handful of Hunters within to cause his demise. Seeing none, he gestured to the girl. "After you," He smirked, though his voice was laced with nothing but nervousness. He waited until she was within that vehicle before he slid in himself, shutting the door behind them. This was a terrible idea. A terrible, awful, rotten, no good idea. His hands were trembling as he looked over at the Russian woman.

"I'm in your car. I believe that constitutes as coming with you." He should have finished that drink she offered him first, perhaps then his nerves wouldn't feel as though they were on fire. "And I believe that means I am entitled to your name, my dear." He looked up, his eyes sparkling with that tease as he offered her his final words. He meant them to be a tease as well, though with every passing second he was worried that they were a reality. "At the very least, I should know what to call my captor."

But darling -- it's only human nature.
