East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

we stopped checking for monsters under our beds,

when we realized they were inside of us all along.

It takes minutes, such long minutes while he lay there resting. She watches him and he finds a sick solace in her quiet gaze. There is no care in her eyes, no worry, just quiet empathy. He welcomes it more than he would welcome any sort of sympathy from anyone, especially her. Such an emotion would make him sick and force him to rid himself of her companionship? He doesn't know what to call it. So far she is the only person on this land he can tolerate. She is also the only person who has ever beaten him in a battle. Want another first? She is the only person who has ever seen him like this and lived to tell the tale. Perhaps he is too tired to fight her and rid himself of the worry that she will tell his enemies of his weakness. After all, he had been awhile since he had let blood shed and that is why the voices were so overwhelming. He needed to kill someone, anyone, and yet he had not.

He shifts his weight, a soft deep sigh falling from his lips as he casts her a sideways glance once more. Taking note of the way her soft lips mouth her silent reply. His hand lifts, reaching gently for her cheek and pausing before he attempts to touch her. It is an attempt to reach her skin, palm warm against her cool face as thumb idly traces her silent lips. He wonders, what she sounds like when she speaks, if she ever spoke. What she sounds like when angry, when sad. If she has a light gentle voice or a strong sure one. He wonders what she sounds like when hurt and what she sounds like when he takes pleasure with her body.

At the last thought his hand falls from her. Eyes narrowing slightly. It was just to distract him from the voices, that is why he was thinking such things. For it had been so long for him to kill but it also had been so long for him to do...anything else. The heat through his body returns and he snorts, pushing off of the bench and stretching idly. He needed to run, to do anything. There was too much going on with him this night and she was no longer helping.

He moves from the bench, stepping into the shadows and out of her sight. Though no doubt with her predator eyes she can still see him easily. His rough hands rise, unbuttoning the navy blue shirt he was wearing. With his back to her, he lets the fabric fall. His muscled back is bare, scars littering his mass. Shoulders roll and he unhooks his axe from his waist, letting the silver weapon fall atop his shirt. The belt is next, undoing the black jeans he was wearing until he is bare in his black underwear. He pauses, casting a glance over his shoulder at her. He should just leave her there, go and clear his head and possibly find another to rid him of his achings either through bloodlust or sex. There were plenty he could think of now who would be more than willing.

Yet he catches himself, "come." it is a request tho it does not sound like it coming from his husky voice. With that, he shifts, the change easy as the years had shown him. Massive human form tearing away as bones crack and splinter to move to the appropriate way and in replace is the darkest of furs. Talons stretch out, gleaming in the limelight as the beast stretches his massive dark frame. He stretches, shaking out his thick, massive dark chocolate of a mane. The lion half turns to her, fixating those piercing blues that stand out so well against the browns of his face on her impatiently.
