East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Every bit of Samantha relaxed in seeing Nadya in her office, though even the faerie girl was able to see the difference in the girl. She'd been there when the shift had taken Nadya by force, even felt the way that Nadya felt that inner turmoil that had left her so messy. But still, even Samantha hadn't expected this version of Nadya. With her hair all messy â€" not in the perfect curls they usually were in â€" and dressed in nothing but a robe with no makeup. She looked tired, even, and not herself. The words she spoke caused Samantha to sit down, her voice steady as she eyed the woman. "I don't think anyone means it in an insulting way. You just don't look like yourself, is all. You look tired. Why don't you sit?" The offer was kind, the gesture to the plush chair entirely genuine. Still, she wasn't surprised in the slightest as Nadya continued to stand, offering up the alcohol.

After not one, but two shots that had Sam mentally prepared for having this talk with Nadya. She was prepared for the woman to fire her, to tell her she wasn't doing a well enough job â€" even though business seemed to be booming â€" or that the other girls had demanded she be demoted once more. Samantha, honestly, wouldn't have blamed her for that. However, the words that Nadya spoke had the girl's brow furrowing together, her eyes narrowing. "Excuse me?" The words came out in a baffled, confused tone, the girl leaning forward to press her fingers against the wood of the desk. So there it was. So it had gotten out that Samantha was starting her own monarchy, that she had followers, that she was a Queen now. A queen that, clearly, was already being underestimated.

It was easy, really, to manage Ivy and Dorian. Ivy was so young, barely knowledgeable about the faerie world. She was capable, yes, and that power of hers could be useful. But she was young, naïve, in the same way that Samantha herself was. And Dorian... well, Dorian still flinched when bicycles got too close to him. Add in their paranoid leader, and wow, they made a wonderful trio, didn't they? Samantha reached up, pinching the bridge of her nose as she took a deep breath. "I'm more than capable, Nadya. I'm more powerful than you know I am. I have been... developing... powers." So there it was, words that she hardly expected to admit to anyone, not even Aiden, until she was sure she knew what the hell she was doing with them. Though, given the glittery state of his sheets, she knew he suspected something. The flair of annoyance she felt towards the accusation that she couldn't handle it had that tingling sensation she'd felt just before the glitter in Aiden's bed presenting itself, though she quickly squashed it. Somehow, she was sure, a glitter bomb would not prove her case. Not that she knew for sure what it would do this time. Glitter... bubbles... those had been the cases so far. Was she cursed to constantly do things that were so cute?

"I think that I'm proving my case by running this place, aren't I?" She opened up the file that was at the top of her pile, passing the paper across the desk as Nadya took a sheet, pointing to the bottom line. "According to my calculations, profits are up 15% from last month. Sure, the girl's are a bit more... flirty, than they should be." She shut the file, pouring herself another shot, though she didn't immediately drink it, instead she looked at the woman. "I'm working on it." She didn't say more on the topic, instead drinking the liquid as she felt the sadness start to plague at Nadya's form. She didn't question it, instead focused on the words that Nadya spoke. A quick shake of her head was awarded to the girl, Samantha taking several moments to gather her thoughts. That third shot would prove to be a mistake, she was sure. Her thoughts were already a bit fuzzy, though she refused to give Nadya another reason to question her newfound authority.

"About the queen thing? No, not yet. I wanted to tell him myself, and I haven't had a time that... works." She met Nadya's eyes. "I'm not hiding it, I promise." She settled in the chair, playing with the rim of the shot glass as she contemplated the way that Nadya was feeling. She was jumbled, the sensation leaving a weird feeling down Samantha's spine. Luckily for her, the more the alcohol took hold of her, the less she seemed to notice the emotions. The next bit of words from Nadya caused Samantha to sit up entirely, a look of bafflement on her features. "Leaving? What do you mean? Do you... mean leaving Aiden?" It was perhaps the first time with her boss that she could feel a flicker of anger, and the woman rose to her feet, leaning over the desk so that she could truly look at the woman. "So that's why you're here? You think that me... being a faerie queen..." The words still tasted so weird on her lips, but no, that's what she was. She was a queen now, and it was damn time she acted like one.

"You think that me being a faerie queen means that I'm going to leave Aiden? Like hell. Nadya, I can't even believe you'd even insinuate such a thing. Of course I'm not going to leave him. I..." She pinched the bridge of her nose again, shaking her head. That prickling, tingling feeling only seemed to amplify with her anger, and while she tried to squash it, it seemed impossible. "Nadya. First you come in here and tell me that I'm not fit to run a monarchy, and now you think..." She turned, meeting the woman's eyes with a look of fury on her features. "So which is it then, Nadya? Am I capable or not? You tell me I'm resilient, that that's what you needed here, and now you think I can't take any kind of power for myself?" That tingling seemed to burst from her suddenly with the rise of her voice, and with it burst any glass in the room like an explosion. The mirror behind the partition, the glasses on the desk, that bottle of vodka, even the glass of the window behind her. It all shattered in an instant, the deafening noise seeming to shock the girl out of her anger. In an instant, the faerie girl turned towards the window, her eyes wide before she turned back to Nadya.
