East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was with an excruciating amount of effort that Edie managed to move her body along the sidewalk, the girl making out tiny noises of pain with every step. She should be screaming. She certainly felt like screaming. But she was well aware that that would draw in attention that the bleeding girl hardly wanted to attract. With every step, Edie found herself favoring her left leg over the right one due to the deep gash that had been carved into her thigh right above the knee. It was still bleeding, her jeans soaked in blood from the injury. But honestly, it wasn't that that was causing her the most pain, nor was it the throbbing headache she'd had ever since her head had been struck with the hilt of the knife in order to get her to pass out. And it wasn't the stab wound in her side that was still bleeding, either.

No, what hurt the worst was that both of her arms were definitely broken, holding at odd angles that she had so attempted to fix once she'd escaped out of the apartment and onto the street. It had been a last resort, and she'd known the instant that the idea had popped in her head the risk that she would be taking. Tied to the chair with her arms bound behind her, she knew that shifting would cause her more pain, the awkward angles of her arm making the shift near impossible. And yet, it was either that or be prepared to have more injuries inflicted on her by the sadistic witch and that awful blade. So she'd shifted and though it had felt as though every fiber of her being was breaking, it had been enough to slip through those bonds and out of the apartment.

She knew she couldn't go to Frost with this. That would be a last resort, even though she was sure that he would find out the next time that they shifted together. The idea that he would find out about her curiosity and the danger she'd put herself in as a resort made her cringe. And she certainly couldn't go to Kato with this. He already worried so much about her and the impulsive ideas that popped into her head. This would probably kill him, if he didn't kill her first. Besides, Kato couldn't heal, and Edie half expected that Frost would make her live with this as a punishment rather than heal her. That left one other person, and she hated the very idea of asking for help from her.

And yet, she still found herself at the back door of the burlesque. She'd barely made it into that dark alleyway, her head starting to swirl from the loss of blood. She wanted so desperately to open that door and get straight to Nadya - if Nadya was even here tonight. Oh god, what if she wasn't here tonight? There was no way that Edie could get home, and with her arms the way they were, she doubted she would be able to shift again. But she couldn't open the door, she couldn't even get back up once her knees buckled out from under her and sent her stumbling to the ground in that dark alley, the girl still desperately fighting to hold back her tears.

It was only when a faerie opened the door to step outside for a break - Edie had no idea how long she'd been laying there in the meantime - that Edie was able to seek some kind of assistance. "Get Nadya," She spoke out, her voice desperate as the girl shrieked at the bloodied Were. "Tell her it's an emergency."
