East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Anastasia Romanova
Anastasia was nothing if not the very embodiment of equanimity and poise, molded by artisan hands from an intimidatingly youthful age to exude elegance, grace, and authority wherever it was that life should see her venture. She had been willful during the breaking dawn of her childhood, a seemingly unstoppable force that had coalesced impressively with her practiced aplomb to see her bloom into perhaps the most ostentatious member of the last Imperial family. And here, nearly a century's span later, the grasping hands of time and circumstance had yet to shake it from her. She was, as ever before, a picture of austere regality.

Even the frown that seeks to mar her upturned features at his presumption is a thing that is beautiful to behold. His assumption of knowledge and, subsequently, her intentions was a deeply irksome thing that settled as a barbed coil against every piece of her. Anastasia had never "worked" for any entity apart from herself in all of her years upon this earth, this particular venture proving a proverbial one-off that was going slowly astray as the seconds trickled away. "No, I don't. It is true that they asked me to collect you as some manner of ill-advised errand meant to test me, but seeing as I am not the trained poodle they seem wont to acquire... I sincerely doubt I'll be fulfilling their order." Her words are pointed with the matter-of-fact tone with which she delivers them, the admission of her supposed errand offered with a measure of nonchalance that those unfamiliar with her demeanor might have found overtly bold and very nearly reckless. But, as with most other things, the Duchess finds herself unperturbed by the idea of this Council and whatever laws they abided by. She was, after all, above and far beyond the span of these regulations.

The redhead softens though her gaze does not at the somber tone of the man before her. Were they not, as Hunters, in essence the very murderers he claimed not to be? It was an axiomatic certainty, yes, that some members of their species were far more zealous in pursuing this stereotype of their lineage, pillaging the supernatural world and its inhabitants for no greater purpose than the possibility that they could. Anastasia had never existed as that manner of Hunter and, she suspected with a measure of certainty that swelled with the passing of every moment, neither had this man. And it is for this reason and few others that she softens ever the slightest pace more in her approach of him. "Murder does not imply intent, William. Just because you are does not mean that you want to be. And I shall tell this Council nothing, for they are no more mine than they are yours," she insists with absolute and unquestioning finality. A pause eeks its way betwixt the two lingering Hunters for a lengthy moment of quietude as Anastasia weighs the options with which she is presented. "However, I do believe I know someone that can help you. Maybe then you can stop running."
