East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Word on the street was that there was a party on the East Side, a vampire party. That was the only thing that made Amaya hesitate before she had the conviction to go. After all, it was a halloween party. What better way to spend Samhain than with a bunch dead people who were actually alive. Or vice versa. She swallowed her fear and prayed to the gods it would be okay as she poked through her closet, pulling out what she needed for a 'costume'.

Not one of those girls who took forever to get everything just right it was a matter of minutes before she had pulled everything on and was standing in front of her mirror. She wore a loose white cotton blouse that left her body and skin completely to the imagination, tucked into baggy brown pants that were tight only at her hips and tied halfway down her lower leg. Her deep brown eyes studied her reflection as she carefully changed a lip and eyebrow ring from simple hoops to ones that sported multiple beads. She clicked the ring against her teeth in satisfaction. From her closet she pulled out a red pirate jacket that was clearly not cheaply made and was one of her bigger financial indulgences. Twirling it around her body and onto her shoulders the hem of the jacket only just brushed the tops of her knee high black boots. Final touch was a three point pirate hat with a long white feather. With a final look in the mirror she grinned, spun on her heel and swept from her tiny hole of an apartment.

She hit the streets of downtown and was immediately hit by the energy of the city. It always took her breath away. Everything around her was moving, changing, twisting and flowing. She missed and loved the calming flow of the forests and fields she used to find peace in. Nature was always close to her heart, but it lacked the electricity that sparked her. Blind to the odd stares she got as she walked, she made her way to Red on the Water. The moment she opened the door she could feel her heart plummet and her stomach twist so painfully she had to stifle a gasp. She had hoped she would easily be able to be lost in a crowd but it turned out she was one of the first to the party. The party of vampires. Her courage fled and she considered doing the same. Instead she all but ran to the bar (as cooly and suave as she could with her body shaking).

"Two Irish Pirate shots, please?" She asked the bartender, handing over her card to open a tab. The shots were set in front of her and down her throat before they even clinked on the wood. "Gods....damn..." She coughed through the burn. Her finger when to hold her nose, as that would stop the alcohol fire. "And a mojito."

Trying to calm her shaking hands, she tucked her long waving red hair behind her ears. Her witch mark, which she tattooed into a pentacle behind her ear, flashing briefly. Slowly the edge of her nerves started to recede as she sipped her minty drink. From under her hat she watched people start to arrive, her smile slowly starting to grow and her body move more to the music. Before long she was herself again and legitimately dancing in place while her eyes kept search for a possible dance partner.
