East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Despite the perhaps protective fashion in which Alexander had remained at her side the entirety of the morning, the man was altogether oblivious to the young woman's astute observations of him. From the way he offered a concerned glance every so often to the fashion at which he moved throughout his own self proclaimed domain, Alexander was entirely unaware of her own lingering gaze. Instead, he was perhaps more focused on the task at hand. In general, the man had never been particularly discriminating when it came to others and their feelings towards him. In that aspect, Alexander had been far more of the selfish sort, dedicating himself to his interests, despite being far and few between. He was, after all, self confident to a fault. It contributed to that charismatic nature that the history books had so known him for. It was only once the crowd had begun to simmer down to a certain sort of quietude that Alexander felt truly at easy, moving about the cafe to carefully concoct his own delectable beverage with a sort of poised dexterity. He approached the young woman only once his newest beverage was completed, fully intending to expand Alexis' limited experience with coffee.

What he hadn't accounted for was the fact that the brush of his fingertips might metaphysically somehow connect him to the young woman staring up at him. At first, it had merely felt like a newfound warmth embracing him, a sort of liveliness that had been absent within his life for nearly as long as he could remember. It was a sensation he'd only had a vague recollection of from his youthful years - it was the feeling of being mortal. It was peculiar that he could so identify this but his attention was quite quickly pulled away from this phenomenon by a much more pressing thought - thoughts of him. It was peculiar to see himself through someone else's eyes. He felt the warmth that fluttered in her chest at his closeness, the notion that somehow he was entirely pure of heart. He understood the full spectrum of the color of his eyes from the magnitude to the way that the green merged into the blue flecks. He felt that need to touch his jawline, to run fingers through his dirty blonde locks. And then - just as fast as those overwhelming desires had come....they were entirely gone.

It took him a moment for his blue-green gaze to slowly fall to the floor, to notice the shattered ceramic mug at his feet and the dark brown liquid within covering the wooden planks beneath him. His hand was still outstretched towards her, slowly falling to his side as she stood up, nearly a breath's distance between the two. He found himself staring at her - really staring at her for the first time in perhaps a long while. He stared at the bright blue hue or her irises, he took in the way her wispy ebony locks framed her feminine features and the way her sweetheart lips moved as she spoke to him. He heard her sweet, soprano voice stutter but it took him a moment longer to recognize the words she spoke to him. "Wait, Alexis." His baritone voice uttered as he leapt after her, his fingertips reaching out to grasp the fleeing girl's wrist in an effort to stop her abrupt departure only to find himself once again thrust within her thoughts at the slightest of touches.

The Macedonian man's fingers retreated from her just as quickly as he had made a means to grasp her, stopping dead within his tracts as his eyebrows furrowed in a rare glimpse of frustration. "Alexis, I...I'm sorry." He muttered softly, unsure if she would even hear - if she would even pause. For once, in perhaps a very long time within his life, the charismatic man found himself hesitating. He understood what was happening to himself, he understood the manifestation of this newfound capability. It had been nearly a millennium though, since any such new occurrence in his steadfast lifestyle. Who he was had been unwavering for so long that for a moment, Alexander found himself entirely unsure with how do deal with this radical new part of him that seemed determined to thwart his every touch of young woman. The very same young woman who seemed to eye him with a sort of desire that he hadn't had directed towards in a quite a very long time.
