East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy

Samantha had exhausted playing with the flowers by the time Aiden returned, instead playing absently with the split ends of her hair. She looked up brightly when he'd emerged from the shop, offering up a hand to wave him over to her. The tables weren't crowded, but still there were plenty of them to choose from. "Thank you," Samantha said pleasantly as he approached her, reaching out to wrap her small hands around the cup he'd set in front of her. A small blush rose in her cheeks as she looked at the heart in the mug and the shape of cookies. Between that and the roses on the table, the situation screamed date and Samantha wished she'd dressed a little nicer than the sweatshirt and jeans she'd donned for their outing. "Cookies, hm? You don't seem like the pink, heart shaped delight type," Her tone was teasing as she reached out, plucking one of the cookies off the table. They were decked out to look like the conversation hearts, and Sam grinned as she read hers. "What do you say, Aiden, will you 'Be Mine'?" Sam held up the cookie so he could read the words before she rested it on the rim of her cup. She laughed playfully, reading over the rest of them with cheesy lines like 'Hot Stuff' and 'Tru Luv'. She was glad that she hadn't picked up the 'Kiss Me' cookie. She definitely wouldn't have been able to make her joke then.

"I'm glad to see you drink coffee, too," Samantha pointed out conversationally, bringing the steaming cup to her lips. She studied him as she took a sip, smiling to herself. "I know how you feel about tea. Not sure I could associate with you if you hated coffee, too." She grinned, putting the cup on the table and taking a bite of the cookie and letting the sweet taste wash over her tongue. It wasn't often that she got to have such treats - she often kept her grocery purchases to the minimums - and this one was particularly fantastic. He'd certainly known how to pick a treat for the two of them. She was about to open her mouth to give him props for that when his own words had drawn her back to the reason that they were there. This may not have been a date, per se, but there was certainly no reason why it couldn't be made into one. Still, she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get his opinion on her own powers.

"It certainly helps if they're closer to me," She said with a nod, nursing her coffee as she thought of the way to describe specifically how her power functioned. "It kind of reminds me of a sense of smell... or hearing, maybe? The closer it is to me, the more I can pick up on it, but if it's a particularly strong emotion, I can feel it from a greater distance. Or, if I'm familiar with a person - like you, for example - it doesn't seem to matter much. I felt you the instant you walked into the burlesque tonight. Even though your emotions are usually very... calm. Though right now I can feel just how much you're enjoying my presence," She winked playfully. "Or that might be the cookie, it's hard to pinpoint exactly." She leaned forward a bit as she set her drink down again. "But I hope it's because of me."
