East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I Want to Go There

I know, I KNOW â€" I'm weird because I do not eat meat. It is rather difficult and I wish others would be understanding. Frost was. He understood, to an extent. I mean he has always been part horse. I am just now growing and adapting with this new life of mine. I've been a horse for almost a year now and I have a lot to learn still. My diet has shunned any thought of meat and so I can no longer have any. I had fish one time, and that was rather good, but I still felt sickish. For a moment I look at his plate longingly, wishing indeed that I could eat the delicious steak, and I have to sigh softly in defeat. If only I was capable of shifting into a predator then I could have meat any time I want! It really isn't shocking that the café owner is looking at me as if I'm an idiot. With a small shrug I attempt to explain myself a little bit. It's not like I can tell a complete stranger, 'oh I change into a horse and because of that I turned into a herbivore.'

"I loved meat, but I've been getting sick when I eat meat. I only recently learned that I cannot have it anymore, it is rather tough not eating meat."

There you go Sir. The truth! Well, sort of. I mean I think what I said was completely honest, just without the part of the information that would make you call the cops and declare me insane. Oh wouldn't that be fun for Frost â€" to come and collect me from the local prison. Although I am sure I could just change into a horse and run my way out of here, but then again, I might be wrangled up and put in a farm or a barn...and again Frost would have to come rescue me. Nope, neither of those things needed to happen tonight. Although I am quite amused with how easily this man goes from having no emotion to turning grumpy. I swear people think females are the ones with terrible mood swings, and I don't think it is true after living with Uncle Azrael and Frost â€" men have major mood swings...major. I nod politely keeping my tone light and polite.

"Well since you said 'please' I won't answer your question. They did mention Adolf Hitler, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Napoleon, Cleopatra, Charlemagne, Queen Elizabeth the First, and so much more."

I look back down at my plate and slowly move my vegetables around with my fork for a moment. I had a very enjoyable day reading my book and not having to put up with pack life. I'm not looking forward to going back and I know I will eventually have to leave and go back. Most likely I'll have to leave the moment I've cleaned my plate. I stayed too long here, I know. I should just finish my meal now and give him some money for sharing his food with me, he didn't have to do that. For a moment my cerulean eyes shift upwards to him for a moment as I mention the one obvious historical leader he had forgotten.

"Oh, and, Alexander the Great. It is a shame really after everything he accomplished he just...died- I guess it just goes to show, only the good die young."
