I can see that this is going to be a losing battle, arguing with him about pack. He has never had the experiences I have had and I know that pack runs deep in all our veins, just deeper in his because he has had no bad experiences caused by his pack. I still have a strong pack instinct and I still wish to belong to a group but my trust has been destroyed by my father and the pack I was raised in so it will take a while before I can surrender myself over enough to call anyone pack again. I know if I had stayed with my father, I might not be here today. Just one well placed broken rib or something more traumatic and I'd be dead. He was always good at aiming his kicks but I was also getting better at moving and defending myself. Of course, that just made him more mad but survival is a hard thing to override.

I give a long heavy sigh and shake my head sadly, murmuring.

"You wouldn't understand."

It is not worth arguing with him; this, I can see. I can see that he must be very loyal to his pack and that is a very redeeming quality in a Were. It is common in our species but it depends on the sub species of Were how deep it runs in your veins. Loner type creatures like large cats and such are usually not so big into packs as wolves and canine types but every Were has pack instinct.

He is very defiant when it comes to our deal, his eyes glowering when I keep resisting his need to carry me like a purse. I will stand my ground on this, even if it comes down to having to run if he gets physical. I can only see escape through verbal means by making a deal. A growl rumbles in his throat when I tell him that I will not be carried and automatically I tremble and shrivel a little bit more submissively. It is a bad habit that I fear will lead to my slavery once more. When his features soften, I feel my muscles realx some instantly, as if feeding off the illusion of calm he is giving. When I offer a compromise to ride upon his shoulders, his face lights up, making him look more handsome and younger than before. I can only hope this is a good sign. He tells me this is good and that we can play now, asking me to shift and hide so he can find me. I hesitate only a moment before nodding but just before I get ready to shift, I see a question in his eyes and I pause to listen, tilting my head in curiosity.

At his sudden question, I can't help but giggle lightly, bringing my hand up to cover my mouth as I shake my head.

"No, I'm not a cat. I'm a fox. I guess you could say it's a mix between a dog and a cat. Sharp stand up ears, more prone to solitude or family groups, and can climb trees like a cat but we're supposed to be in the same family as a dog."

I shrug lightly, hoping that answered his question. I feel myself relax a little more when he steps back, offering me some space. At his next question, my brow raises in puzzlement as I shake my head slowly once more.

"I'm sorry, I don't know who or what Tetra is. I haven't been in town long enough to know where anyone goes at night, besides that club that seems to attract a lot of attention most nights. I snuck around it a few nights ago and smelled all kinds of things. Other Weres...and other beings that aren't human. I can't say that's where Tetra goes but it'd be a good guess."

I shrug again, looking a little more helpless this time cause I actually wish I could help him. Making sure he doesn't have any more questions, I nod to let him know I'm ready and I shift. Now stands before him a brilliant scarlet red fox with black brindle stripes down my back and blue gold eyes staring up at him. Giving him one wave of my tail as if to say "find me if you can," I turn and take off, zig-zagging down the alleys. I run through a few puddles and lift my tail, trying to make it harder to leave my scent behind before I dive through a hole in a fence and crawl up behind a a dumpster. It's pretty snug between the dumpster and the wall but I crawl through quite easily, making it up under the dumpster so I can peer around with wide golden eyes, waiting to see him coming. I have always liked hide and seek.
