East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Take Me Where I've Never Been

Well I must say I am glad I found this place. I haven't been bothered much and I was able to go through each book. It felt good to be out of that house. I know there is a part of me that desperately wants to go back. I think it is the horse side, it craves to be among others, to be social. I find the ability to be human and horse all too much to handle and absolutely difficult to control. One time I found myself sitting outside reading a book underneath the massive tree in Frost's backyard and I found myself munching on grass. Yes. That is right, I said it â€" grass. Yu want to know what that is like? Well for starters grass actually tastes fairly good. Although I really shouldn't pick up that habit while in my human form. Yet even though I crave to be among my own kind I cannot help, but I enjoy the solitude. Though it would appear that my solitude has come to an end.

I am far too engrossed with my book. I do not realize that the café has closed and all the customers and workers went home for the night. As a Were I really should be able to catch the scent of a Dark Hunter, especially since I am related to one, and yet I don't catch the scent at all. It is the movement from the corner of my eye that catches my attention. Innocently I look up to see the manager of the store place a dish of delicious food right in front of me. I catch a good whiff of the steak and my stomach growls and groans in response, partly because I have just realized that I am hungry, and partly because the scent of steak is repulsive. That is not to say he overcooked the steak, but because as a horse I find meat disgusting. When he turns to retreat to a rather cozy looking arm chair I quietly place my book in the bag reaching for the plate and silverware and heading in his direction. While I stand in front of him I easily begin to pass the steak off my plate and into his own, sure it isn't proper protocol, but he made the food and I wasn't going to allow it to go to waste. I speak up politely quite unfazed by the fact he is a creature that is meant to kill me and that my manners are absolutely atrocious.

"Thank you very much for the food. I wish I could eat the steak, but I can't...you should take mine."

I manage to provide him a wide grin and take my meal and myself over to love seat perpendicular to him. Happily I ease the bag off my shoulder and let it sit on the other end, curling my leg up and sitting down. Eagerly I dig into vegetables on my plate, carefully pushing them away from the steak juice that lingered. For a moment I break the silence and place the fork down for a moment showing him another kind smile as I attempt to explain why I was incapable of leaving when it was closing time.

"I am so sorry I've overstayed my welcome. I just needed to get away and this book, well, I find it quite fascinating. It's about the greatest warriors and leaders throughout history. I just found it all very interesting and I couldn't stop reading it."
