Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

The tension hung thick in the air almost immediately after Miya entered the room. Dareios stood stiffly on the other side of the kitchen counter, watching her from behind a relative cheery expression. If he wasn't undead, he imagined this would be a time when his heart would be leaping out of his chest in anticipation. But instead, the tall and lean vampire waited silently as he mentally braced for wherever their conversation lead them next.

His beady eyes watched her as she physically recoiled from his question, and Dareios began to feel a sense of dread. Perhaps this wasn't going to go in the direction he had hoped. Yes, their experience had been sloppy, if not just slightly out of control. But despite all that, they'd both behaved themselves - probably Dareios moreso, given the strong urges he felt when he was around Miya, but nevertheless, nothing physically consequential had transpired the night before. Dareios watched as Miya's discomfort from just being around him slowly escalated. He feigned a smile when she thanked him for the coffee, but internally, he knew whatever came next was going to be bad news. They weren't even dating (yet?), and he had a good sense that whatever was just beginning between them was about to be squashed in the next few minutes... right here in his own kitchen.

His mouth began to salivate when a sudden flush of color climbed up Miya's neck and flooded her cheeks. He could feel her heart beating so furiously even on his side of the counter. Dareios forced himself to look away for a moment then, and swallowed hard before redirecting his gaze.

All of a sudden, words dripped from Miya's lips one right after another. Dareios' furrowed his brows as he tried to keep up. Finally she surrendered, her hands coming up to cover her face, and Dareios was left trying to decipher everything she'd just dropped on him. "Whoa, whoa, Miya. Nothing happened. It's okay." He said right away, in an attempt to quell her embarrassment. He suppressed the urge to stride around the bartop to stand closer to her. "We got a little drunk. I made you something to eat and then I put you to bed. Alone. I promise."

The vampire cocked his head to one side then, trying to peer through her fingers and lock eyes with her directly. The word virgin pierced through his mind. Miya was young and naive in some ways, but he never would have guessed... How many are virgins at her age these days? It wasn't that it swayed his opinion one way or the other about her. He was still quite smitten, but maybe a little surprised. "Well, you're a virgin and I'm a vampire, so I guess we're even."

It was probably a bad joke. But he didn't know what else to say.

Dareios frowned when Miya suddenly announced she was going to leave. "Miya-" He didn't want to beg. But he didn't want it to end like this, either. "Let me call up one of my guards to take you home. It's raining." He followed her out of the kitchen and down the hall, but stopped abruptly once they reached the well-lit lobby. Dareios had equipped his brownstone with state-of-the-art technology, designed in this age just for vampires. With the flick of a switch, he could drown out all the light from the stained glass windows ahead. But he feared such an abrupt change wouldn't make the fact that he was a vampire any easier to bear for the already flustered Miya. So he stopped, his slippered feet hiding in the last bit of shadow before the edge where the morning light lit up the hardwood floor.

"If you want to go, alright. I won't stop you." He said with a solemn expression on his face. "But despite what you think, I had a really nice time with you. And I'd like to see you again, if you're willing."
