East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The young woman remained remarkably nervous as she introduced her title to the man that sat beside her. She expected the same reaction from him as she'd gotten from Nadya or the other fae that worked in the building. She expected to be laughed at, to be told she was incapable. And perhaps she might have been. She'd only been a faerie for a few years, and until the last year she had been denying being a faerie at all. It was only in the last year that she had learned about her own kind, and now she was becoming a queen. It had worked well for Dorian and Ivy, of course. Her two followers were incredibly loyal. The girls at the burlesque were starting to come around. Some of them more so than others.

When his eyes drifted over her figure, she was sure that it would be the same reaction. She didn't anticipate at all that he was merely appreciating her figure, nor would that thought cross her mind at all. Her cheeks flushed bright red at the notion that he may have been impressed by her status. If only he knew that her monarchy was only a few people, and that most of the faeries around here respected her only because she was their boss. Or at least, that was what she'd come to decide. She blushed even brighter as his head bowed, assuring her that he may have been more important than she knew. "I'm not..." She started, shaking her head. "I'm not really important. But thank you. You're the first person to not laugh at me when I tell them. I... it means a lot."

It was a small moment of vulnerability, one she covered up almost immediately as she watched him notice her interest in the gun. His words made sense, she supposed. Security. Had she not been seeking out that in her own regard? It had been what had caused her to ask Tobi about the weapon to protect herself - something that had ended up not being all that helpful, though she'd never admit that to the other man - and why she slept better knowing that Dorian was in the room next to her fully knowing how to use that sword of his. "No, I suppose not," She spoke quietly, her fingers going to play in her hair.

"You'll find plenty of supernaturals here," She commented idly, her gaze lifting to his. Those eyes of him were nearly intoxicating, weren't they? She'd felt the pull to Sacrosanct herself, as though it was magnetic. And she'd found her place here. It was his mention of keeping the human and supernatural worlds separate that had her nodding, an opinion she could certainly relate to. "You know, that's why I became a queen." Her voice was full of confidence that was nearly unusual for her. "I wasn't always a faerie. I was born human. Lived that way until I was eighteen. I was... attacked. And changed."

She winced slightly, the six year old wound enough to still hurt like hell. "I met another girl recently. Same thing happened to her. I knew I had to do something. Had to get some control over the faeries here and keep that from happening." It was foolish to think she could make that much of a difference, but it had been her reasoning, after all. It had been what she had tried so desperately to do.

"Almost two years," She commented in response to his question, smiling warmly. "The pull to here is almost magnetic, and I... I've found a home here. I'm happy here." She grinned over at him. "I formed my monarchy here. It's permanent for me." She looked over at him. "What about you?" Though she'd just met him, she liked this man, trusted him even. He wouldn't be a terrible person to pull to her side, and she wondered idly if she could convince him to join her.
