East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Hot chocolate and a donut. It was hardly a difficult request, one he was most certainly capable of fulfilling for her and briefly he offered her a nod, his voice soft as he replied, "Of course." He turned, intending to fetch her desired items before the lights over head flickered, threatening to rob his establishment of the electricity it so required. Alexander paused, a small frown marring his masculine features as his gaze tilted upwards momentarily. It had been a long time since the cafe had been left in the dark. The zephyr that abruptly caressed his features pulled his attention immediately, his Andean Sea colored eyes shifting towards the heavy door at the front of the establishment. The storm raging outside must have been far worse then he had originally given it credit to for a strong gust to thrust open the front door. A small grunt left his lips though the man hardly had a moment to react any further before the young female jumped from her place upon the booth, scrambling away from him and the seat she was moments ago occupying. Her voice held an almost haunting hint to it, those words a strong reminder of far too many memories best left within the past.

Usually, the fact of what he was seemed to be so often overlooked by his patrons. He contributed it largely to the smell of coffee that permeated the establishment, not to mention the busy nature of the coffee business. Many of his patrons, those of the otherworldly nature, were far too busy with getting their daily injection of coffee to consider the threat of the hand that gave it to them. Naturally, it suited Alexander just fine, but such day to day interactions left him...forgetting of their abilities to detect one another. A small, almost sad simper crossed his features and slowly he nodded, "I am." He stated simply, as if those two simple words explained everything. He knew all too well the negative connotation those two words held to it. He knew if he left it at that she'd be out that door within seconds, leaving behind her chocolate and donut to instead brave the storm raging from beyond the sanctuary of his walls and that was simply unsatisfactory. "You should be more worried about the storm then me. I gave up the crusade long ago. My only concern is to provide you with the best hot chocolate that has ever touched your lips." He prided himself on the quality of his drinks, a quality that had clearly not been entirely overlooked, attributing to the success of his business. And really why shouldn't he be? He was there when coffee first became a beverage of the elite.

Graciously, the man gestured towards the booth next to him that she'd earlier been occupying, trying his best to be a courteous host, a role he didn't often choose. Never the less, the man chose to remain still. For all his decades of hunting, Alexander understood prey far too well. She was skittish, with very good reason, and yet he hardly wanted to chase her off, instead letting the young girl see his empty hands and, well, less then weapon decorated physic. It was only when she decided to move that he'd stir from his place. The evening was entirely within her hands now.
