East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Despite the daily hustle and butle of owning the cafe, there was a certain sort of contentment that rested within the man's old soul at being able to provide a sanctuary from the every changing world beyond his window panes. He was by no means settling - after all, this great hunter still had far too much life left within his soul. Quite on the contrary, Alexander was merely biding his time. The conqueror knew all too well that the smallest of actions could send ripples across this ever changing pond - ripples that even time could not forget. The life of a meaningless vampire in a back alley or the were-girl reading a book in the back of his cafe hardly warranted his interest. They would hardly be his next great accomplishment. They were no empire waiting to be knocked down and so, Alexander continued to ignore the supernatural that came through his door - much to the annoyance of the overreaching council. Some decades, the Macedonian man made a point to befriend his supposed victims if only to thwart the council's sway over him. He was a King. An emperor. A pharaoh. A god. The fact that they thought they could control him infuriated the hunter.

It was this annoyance at his earlier meeting with the president of the council that saw Alexander be particularly tolerant to the weres that filled his booths today - even allowing that aforementioned girl to spend the better part of her day within his establishment. Alexander had already released his barista from duty, the machines had already been clean and the trash taken out, and the sign flipped to close and still she sat - utterly oblivious of the world that surrounded her. The conqueror left her alone, seeing to the the other aspects of closing the cafe before momentarily abandoning her to her book with the knowledge that she'd still be there when he returned from his flat upstairs. And, quite un-astoundingly - she was. With slow, careful steps, Alexander made his way towards the young woman, tucked in the corner of his cafe. He paused in front of her, placing a plate down in front of her followed by a fork and a knife. His blue-green gaze glanced upwards at the girl, knowing far too well by now that he had her attention. After all, he could feel what she was, he had little doubt that her instincts were already screaming of fear and adrenaline as her kind so often did.

"You can eat dinner and then I'm closing up for good. I suggest you find a stopping place in your novel." The man spoke, his voice was firm and yet not entirely unkind either. Alexander turned from her, fully intending to let her have the peace she had so clearly sought within his walls. After all, he had no need to press his presence upon her, hardly wanting anything from her in the first place. Instead, Alexander left her with the plate of surprisingly delectable looking food. The Dark Hunter settled within his own dinner in his favorite arm chair near the front of the store, his blue-green gaze cast outside towards the window and the nightlife that was only just beginning to blossom. It was up to the girl if she wanted to close the distance between them - after all, he was a hunter and she was supposed to be his prey.
