Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

sharp objects make me giddy

He really thinks I'd just sacrifice the Were's life to him? What world does he live in where I would do that? He must be plum crazy. He's also got a death wish if he thinks he can stay between me and the Were and remain safe. He has no idea how many knives I can hide on my person.

I know the smell of blood must be enticing to him and maybe it's getting his head all wonky but he's going to have to get over that and learn some discipline. I cut my shirt and wrap my arm, hoping to cover the temptation might help some. Even as he watches me wrap it, I see his lips tighten in a thin line and my brow rises. He's definitely not good at discipline or hiding his lack thereof.

His warning only makes me laugh lightly and snort. "I know what to do with vampires that like to bite, don't you worry your pretty little head about that. If you even think about going after my blood, you're going to be the least of anyone's concerns." I can tell he's at least trying to be honest but he needs to learn not to underestimate a hunter and I'm certainly not in a tolerable mood tonight, especially after having my arm gnawed on.

I glance down, watching his hands ball into fists, as if he's fighting something internally. I almost feel for him, but then I remember what he is. He jumps back as the dog is released from his net, running past him and me along with it. I turn my head just a little as I turn the corner to the dead end, enough to see the vampire following along at a more leisurely pace. Doesn't know when to call it quits, does he?

I stop to glance around at the dumpsters and boxes, only turning my head enough to watch the vampire in my peripheral vision as he tells me where she is. My brow rises, lip quirking sarcastically. "Helping now? I know enough of your kind to know there's a catch to any positive feedback. I advise you to go on your way before you get hurt. Last warning."

As if he's trying to test my patience, the vampire strikes with his annoying power again, a net suddenly enveloping me. I grunt as I get entangled and fall against the wall. My lips curl and my teeth clench as I watch the vampire send another net at the Were again. "Run!" I cry out but too late, watching the dog turn human right beside me, her form held to the wall by another net. My eyes narrow on the vampire, even as he tells me to question her. I continue watching him even as I sigh.

"I'm not thanking you if that's what you're looking for. You've still got me tangled in a net too." Snorting, I turn my head just enough to see the Were while still keeping an eye on him. "I just want to know why you've been killing. Did something happen to you? Did someone attack you? The Council has taken notice and they want you taken care of. I'm trying to help you. I just need to know why." The girl squirms, fighting her restraints and at first I don't think she's going to answer but finally she makes a growling noise.

"I don't care about your damn council. They hurt me, they....took away my choice. I want justice. I won't stop until they're all gone." My brows furrow. It was as bad as I thought. I don't forget about the vampire but I bite my bottom lip in thought before I continue. "If you can give me anything, descriptions, names, anything. I'll find them for you. I'll make sure they're prosecuted for what they've done. You just have to help me so I can help you." She shakes her head vehemently. "No, you don't understand. This is my justice to take, no one else's. They must pay." I scowl.

"But how many innocent people have to die before you get your justice? This can't go on." I try to keep a soothing tone with her but all I see in her face is anger. No, it's more like rage. I can tell I'm not getting through to her, at least not tonight. I look away for a minute, thoughtful, but never forgetting about the vampire.

That's when he moves like lightening, snatching the knife from my hand. I glare at him as he throws it to the ground and puts a foot on it. My lips twitch, amusement glistening in my eyes as I tilt my head at him. Amusement gives way to disgust though as he steps closer, making his intentions clear. I can see the hunger in his eyes and though I'm not scared, I don't want his mouth anywhere near me. It's not even that he's not Kohl. Vampires have always given me this sickening feeling in my stomach, just thinking of them feeding on anyone. I feel nauseous even as he starts to move aside the wrap on my arm. My lips tighten in a thin line. "You're really asking for it." I growl through clenched teeth.

As he licks the wound on my arm, my skin erupts in goose bumps and I feel my stomach doing somersaults. For a minute, I worry that I'm about to throw up. I close my eyes for a second, reminding myself to stay calm and not lose it in front of the Were or she'll think me incapable. The minute he makes the comment about my taste though, all bets are off. In a flash, I whip another knife out of my bra holster, slicing it through the netting holding me and sending it at his nearest shoulder. If it punctures, I twist the knife in his flesh to add more pain to the surprise before I go to shove him back as hard as I can.

My eyes are sinister as I ready myself with knife in hand. "You think you're not a monster because you're not killing anyone? Forcing your feeding on someone makes you just as evil in my mind. You're no better than the rest of your kind, no matter what you tell yourself. You're no better than the hunters who attacked her." I nudge my head toward the Were. "You have no control, no discipline. You only think of yourself. If you want our blood, you're going to have to shed some in the process and I'm betting you'll be losing more than you're gaining in the end."
