Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

I will admit to some surprise as she grabbed for my arm. After how modest she's been since I met her, it just wasn't what I expected, not that I don't enjoy the feel of her warmth. It's rather comforting after so long without a woman's touch. I guess I've been too distracted by hunting down Alice's killer. I won't stop though. I can't. It's like another force inside me won't let me stop thinking about it and I don't think I'll be able to until I catch him and bring him to a slow horrible death. She chuckles at my words and says she can agree and I smirk, the corner of my lip lifting wiht amusement as my eyes glimmer. She smiles and her eyes are dazzling in the darkness. They're so full of life.

When I start talking about myself, I'm sure she can notice that I've grown a bit stiffer. I'm not much of a talker when it comes to myself. I like hearing about other people and their lives. I could listen to someone's else's stories all night but I can't stand ten minutes of talking about myself usually. I'm just too secretive. Yet I feel it's only right to talk some about myself since she's been so generous. She looks all too curious when I tell her how I travel and used to own my own business. I chuckle a little under my breath and shake my head.

"No mask here. I'm just modest about where I spend my money. It's all about knowing where to invest."

She laughs again and it lights up her face. I could listen to that laugh all night. She makes a comment about going wherever I want whenever and I shrug lightly.

"It has its perks, I suppose."

She seems a little disappointed as if thinking about her own early hopes and dreams. I wish I could see what those dreams are. I would offer to take her somewhere sometime but that would probably freak her out since we only just met tonight. Hopefully this won't be the last time though so we'll be able to pick up this conversation at a later date. She hopes to hear my stories and seems hopeful herself about meeting again. My lips quirk once more into a smile, eyes lighting up at the thought of knowing I'm not the only intrigued one. I nod.

"I'll try to think up some entertaining ones then."

She looks down, her voice having grown so soft near the end that it makes me want to reach out and grasp her delicate chin and tilt it up so I can look into her eyes and make her feel better. Somehow, I just want to comfort her. She tells me about her cat and I smirk.

"At least they're more independent than dogs. Too dependent on attention, if you ask me."

I can relate more to cats because they're mostly solitary creatures. They like to hang out on their own and only get attention when they want it. Otherwise, you'd better watch out. Definitely something I can relate to. She looks at me expectantly and I wonder what she thought I was going to say. Something differnt, perhaps? Maybe she thought I was going to pick on her for having a cat. Most dogs don't like me but cats seem to mind their own business. Maybe they can recogize a like mind. Both predators, both born hunters.

It grows quiet for a moment, her heels making an audible sound across the concrete. It's almost a peaceful sound, though. Then she looks up and my features fall somewhat as she says that it's her house. I tilt my head, checking it out. It seems quite cozy, I guess. She ventures that I can head on home cause she doesn't usually have company late. I give her a gentle smile and bow my head in agreement.

"Well then I'll be the gentleman and take my leave once you reach your door."

Her smile is attractive and my eyes are drawn to those warm lush lips. I bet they're soft. I walk with her as far as the sidewalk in front of her house before I stop, placing my hands in my pockets as I watch for her to walk up to her door and open it.

"Good night."

I murmur. Only once she's safely inside will I turn and walk away. I don't even know where I'll go. I'm certainly not tired and it's not like I have to be anywhere before the sun comes up. I glance back at her door once as I walk away, a smirk playing at the corner of my lips as I think about my chance encounter tonight. It was quite refreshing and I hope to do it again sometime.
